Default Is this a broken tooth,,,or normal.

I don't know if this is normal or not. Quincy has been to the vet twice, and the vet didn't say anything about it. It does seem like he will only eat soft food. I took this pic as a before for when my Petzlife finally shows up. That's when I saw this gap. It looks like a litte nub behind the big tooth. Both side's are like that. I had a really hard time getting him to let me look. Do I need to take him to the vet again.

What do you guy's think. Or better yet,,,how about some pic's of your pup's teeth so I have something to compare to. And just so you know, Quincy is about 9. Maybe he need's denture's.

I'm guessing a broken tooth, due to his age. He probably needs some pulled and a good professional cleaning.

If he only eats soft food, it may be bothering him. I'd point it out to the vet, to see if he needs them removed.

If you recently took Quincy to the vet twice and he said nothing about his teeth, I definately would seek another vet to take care of his teeth. This is my opinion. Poor Quincy he is most likely miserable. When was the last time he had a cleaning? I agree with Shadow,Bnot and Chattiesmom.

Cal, I just read your previous posts about Quincy's history and I want to say that was very kind of you to take him in and hopefully you will be able to have the vet see to his teeth. I am so sorry for Quincy that he was not loved and treated well by the original owner, we sure can not understand how people can be so uncaring as they were. It is nice that he has a forever loving home with you and your Mom. I do believe after the Vet takes care of those teeth that he will be eating and he'll be a lot happier little fella.

Patti,

Thank you for reminding us that Quincy was rescued from near death in the woods. And you're right, we don't know what poor Quincy has been though and how he was treated in the past. He is very fortunate to have a Guardian Angel to bring him to his Forever Family.

I still think getting a second opinion from a different vet would be a good thing to do. I would be apprehensive of a vet that didn't see or comment on the tooth.

Good luck Quincy! You are going to feel so much better once your teeth are cleaned and the tooth is fixed.

Thank's for the kind word's.

Read my other thread about him needing soft food. It turn's out he's just picky. I got him some Life's Abundance and he love's it.

This poor little guy has been through hell. I wish I could make him understand how much I really do love him. The little jerk is attached to my mom though, and I'm just second fiddle. But that's ok.

Beside's getting any teeth pulled, should I have them cleaned. I've read it's risky. I would hate to loose him over getting his teeth cleaned. I did get some petzlife. How much is a cleaning. By the time everything else is done, I really can's afford a $500 vet bill. Any educated guess at what I might be looking at. Do I need to find a kidney broker. I can live with just one,,,,right.

Jazzie has her teeth cleaned under anistesia once a year. I always have blood work done before she goes under to make sure she is fit for it. I know that vet bills can be reallly expensive. Your vet can teach you how to brush his teeth and that's always better than not doing anything. Some vets will also set up a payment schedule too - you might want to ask.

As for Love... I've always thought that rescues knows when they are in the right home and love you unconditionally (sorry guys for this next comment) and they seem to have a special way of showing that love from dogs who were lucky to be placed in a Forever Home from puppyhood. Quincy does love you and I know he understands the effort and love you are giving him. Your mom being a "MOM" is probably more comforting to Quincy because of what he's been though but don't think for a minute that he love her more or less than you. He's giving you the "MAN to MAN" respect by not being too mushy. Besides, let me guess... Mom gives him treats and fun things while you get to do the "bad" things like take him to the vet and giving him baths!

I applaud you!

As far as mom goes,,,she's never even pet him. She's not ,,in her own word's,, "An animal lover". But she is the one that feed's him. Plus I think he was owned by a woman before.

What's really funny if there's a storm and he's affraid,,,then he come's running to me. He's not a big fan of thunder. I guess he feel's safer with me for some reason. He won't leave me for nothing.

As far as the pic goes,,,he was sleeping on the couch with my mom. I just love knocking on the door. My mom say's I like to hear him bark. And ya,,,I do. He sound's so ferousouis. He was a little groggy in that pic so he was just waiting to see who was coming in. I'll start knocking on the table right next to him so he know's it's me. I keep showing him it's me knocking on everything as I get closer to the door. He isn't fazed. Then I show him my hand on the door,,,,still nothing. But as soon as I knock,,,he goes nut's. He run's to the door barking. When he get's there he's just waging his tail. I think it's as intertaining to him as it is to me..

There ya go! A dog will always love most the person he feels he needs to "win over"

As for his teeth, I'd start out with a cleaning and whatever else he needs, and then the Petzlife will help to ensure that he never has to go through that again. It works best when it's used on clean teeth. It will clean his teeth, it's just going to take a while, from all that i've read about it.

He's a real cutie and lucky to have you!
