| Help! Low-Protein Diet Tucker's having problems again and I'm so frustrated I'm ready to pull my hair out!!! I need some suggestions on what to feed him that is low-protein, things like cottage cheese? He is still able to urinate, but he strains and is starting to pass blood. He has been catheterized 2 weeks ago and put on very strong antibiotic "Baytril". he didn't finish the meds because they were making him ridiculously sick to his stomach. I know it's too much protein, I don't have ANY idea why this is happening again... but does anyone know what I can feed him over the weekend? background info: -he's been treated for struvite and oxalate crystals in the past -he's eaten S/D U/D & C/D to clear his crystals, but we stopped b/c it didnt have enough protein to sustain him for a long period of time -he's had surgery for a liver shunt -he's eating blue buffalo dog food since his surgery And on a lighter note, here's the boys Christmas picture:

| Hi! Zeus has been put on a low protein diet due to pancreatitis. He is now on prescription Eukanuba Low Residue. Hope this helps. So sorry your little one is going through this. Merry Christmas!

| I wish I could help you too but I'll be in the same situation after Wednesday as my dog is having bladder surgery for removal of crystals and stones. He's been sporadically bleeding for the past several weeks and it's only after I watched him when I let him out in the yard that I noticed something was not right. He will also be neutered at the same time, even though he's already 5 and I felt it was a little late to do. I'm also very worried about what the doctor is going to recommend as Ralphie is very very picky and fussy. I'll post on Thursday when I get my recommendations and results. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am sorry to hear Tucker is having problems again. You both have been so much with this. I would see ehat the vet can suggest, but I think that canned food may be lower than hard, but I'm not sure. Good luck!!

| I'm probably not going to be much help, but for what it's worth I thought I would reply. My husband and I are fitness and nutrition freaks. We only eat unprocessed organic food. The same goes for my animals. Here are a few different meals I feed Maddie. She eats Innova EVO dry food. However that's not going to help you considering it's loaded with protein. Low Protein Meal Ideas: Brown or White Rice & Cottage Cheese Finely chopped apple and strawberries with organic cream of rice Chopped carrots w/small amount of natural plain yogurt I hope this helps a little, I wish you the best! | Low protein diet from University of Tennessee Hi, Try this website: www.vet.utk.edu/clinical/sacs/shunt/index.shtml. It is from UT and they have a specialist there on liver shunts, Dr. Tobias, so I would think this is a really good diet for Tucker. It is homemade and that probably makes a big difference since ingredients will be better quality and easier to digest. Hope everything goes well. |

| one of my yorkies suffers from pancreatitis and is doing well with canned food from the vet- canine i/d. I also feed him Wellness dry food- low in protein and has mainly veggies and fruit products. Definitely agrees with her! |
