| Jack's giving me trouble! Hi everyone! I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to how to get my Jack to eat his dog food? We have tried every kind of hard dog food the vet has recommended and Jack doesn't like any of it! The vet told me to play "hard ball" with him and see if he will start eating but he does not! By the end of the day he will start throwing up and show signs of hypoclycemia (spellling??) He will eat canned food just fine but the vet said this is not really good for him. He will eat a piece of hard food here and there but NEVER enough to sustain him. Can you tell me what brand your pup eats? Is there any brands at Wal-Mart that are good? I haven't tried any of those. Anyone have any great ideas?????? Thanks so much! P.S. Jack is 6 months old

| How old is he? When I first got Ollie she was a very picky eater. I finally got her to eat Royal Canine. Do you feed the two together? competition will usually get them eating. Another trick, try putting a little on the floor. Sometimes they will eat off the floor but not out of a dish. You could also give him choices, since you have several brands, put out several brands. |

| Thanks for your reply. He is 6 months old. I will try feeding them together. He does really hate when Bella gets something to eat so maybe I can use that to my advantage. Thanks again!

| They need the hard food for their teeth but they also need to eat. Especially if they are having hypoglycemic episodes. I feed my a 1/2 container of Lil Caesars moist in the morning then I leave Royal Canin hard out for them all day. They eat this and they are picky eaters too

| I haven't found Walmart to carry many good brands of food at all. Seems to me, at 6 months, your baby ought to be eating fine on their own. I know with one of my dogs, if the food had any red pieces at all in it, he'll throw it up. Neutra-Cal is great for hypoglycemia. |

| Where do you find the royal canine? I would like to try that. I keep Nutri-Cal on hand at all times. It really is great stuff! I have had a tough time getting him to eat all along. When I first got him at 10 weeks, I had to force feed him for 2 1/2 weeks. He just wants canned food all the time. He also is TERRIBLE about getting into people food. He will eat any people food he can get his little mouth on It's just hard dog food he doesn't want.

| I had a similar issue with Bailey after she stayed at my mums and mum gave her canned food. What I do is to soak the kibble in hot water which softens it and brings out the chicken flavour. It took a little while for Bailey to give in (I gave her puppy milk in the meantime and she was ok) but now she happily eats the soaked kibble...as long as it is still warm when she gets it! |

| Try warming the canned food up and then mixing the hard food wtih the canned food. That might entice him to eat the hard food, too. How did he do last night on the Royal Canine? |
