Pepto Bismol tablets I came home to find the bottle chewed up. It may be a child proof cap, but not a Yorkie proof cap. How concerned should I be if she ate 4 of the caplets? Should I try to make her vomit them up? It can't be more than an hour ago that she ate them. Thanks! I am so freaking out right now!

1-800-717-3786 is the Pepto Bismol hotline. I don't know how bad it is for animals. http://www.pepto-bismol.com/tablets.shtml That's a link to the directions and who should take it and who shouldn't. WAIT!! The main ingredient in Pepto Bismol is Bismuth Subsalicylate, and I just found a link about pets and this substance: http://www.peteducation.com/article....articleid=1456

I cut and pasted this from the site: If you think your pet has been poisoned... Contact your veterinarian or one of the Animal Poison Hotlines (listed below)*if you think your pet may have accidentally received or been given an overdose of the medication. **ASPCA National Animal Poison Control Center 1-900-443-0000 ($50.00 per case. The charge is billed directly to caller's phone.) 1-888-4ANI-HELP (1-888-426-4435. $50.00 per case, billed to caller's credit card only.) Follow-up calls can be made for no additional charge by dialing 888-299-2973. There is no charge when the call involves a product covered by the Animal Product Safety Service. **Animal Poison Hotline – a joint service provided by North Shore Animal League America (NSAL) and PROSAR International Animal Poison Center (IAPC). 1-888-232-8870 ($35.00 per incident. The charge is billed to caller's credit card only.) Staffed 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.

I would call the ER vets office to ask. It maybe to late to have her throw them up. It never hurts to call and ask especially with pepto having salicylates (aspirin).

I called the ER vet and they asked me her age and weight and how many she ate. I was told she should be okay, since she was still running around and being her regular goofy old self, but to monitor her for the next 12 hours and if she shows any signs of distress to take her in. I was really freking out there for a bit.
