| Loss of apetite? I didn't really have trouble with my pup eating habits till now (he's 5.5 months old and about 4 lbs). If he didn't eat much during the day, he'd clean his bowl in the evening or during night (I free feed him). He's never been crazy about his dry food, I add a little warm water and sprinkle Missing Link and stir it up - but he'd still finish his daily portion. The last few days, however, he doesn't seem hungry, he's playful and active, bowels movements are normal. But he eats maybe a 1/3 of his bowl, I started giving him a slice of cheese and I give him a few treats during day for training mainly. Can teething influence his apetite? I'm seeing a vet today for Rabies shot and I'm going to ask him too..... I'm trying not to mix his food with canned but if he's not eating enough I have to??

| Considering his age he might be having a growth slow down and not require as much food right now. My daughters yorkie will eat a full bowl of food one day, and maybe half the next, she is never consistent on her eating habits and its just the norm for her. The way they act is really the best indicator if something is wrong. Your going to the vet today so thats great! He can do a quick once over and maybe take some worry away. Im sure a sore mouth/gums can cut down on their interest in food too. |

My furkids Donating Member | I wouldn't give him to much cheese...chesse has alot of fat.....I feed Nutro Ultra Puppy and Adult (I have 2 yorkies) I also feed Nutro Ultra Puppy soft...I only put 3 little chunks in each dish and cut them up in small peices...so they are really getting alot but enough to coat the kibbles...Lillie (puppy) gobbles it right up..Sadie (adult) has always been a picky eater so she eats when she is ready but, it is the only thing I have tried that Sadie will eat. Giving the amount of soft that I do isn't going to hurt her and it's a good soft food. Maybe you could try a little bit of boiled chicken breast mixed with his food. I used to do this until I tried the soft food....got a little expensive though.
