| Diamond Products... Hi! I had emailed what I thought was the Chicken Soup website for samples of their product. Through email correspondence, the rep told me about Diamond Pet Foods and sent me samples of the Diamond Pet Foods Beef Meal & Rice Formula, and the Small Breed Lamb and Rice Formula. Quite a nice size sample, I might add!!! Has anyone used this? |

| I feed Royal Canin, I have been feeding Leo Adult 27 and so that is what I have been feeding Abby since she came to live with me. Royal Canin also has a Yorkshire 28 food. I thought I might try that and see how she likes it. I have heard of Diamond before some of the Rat Terrier Mom's feed it to there dogs. Stephanie, Abby and Leo |

| The only Diamond product I've ever used is Chicken Soup and my 2 LOVE it. I feed that mixed with Canidae All Life Stages everyday. I don't trust any other Diamond products, really, bc of the disaster they had a while ago with dogs dying from poisonous corn! Chicken Soup doesn't contain corn so I'm not worried about it. |

Well, I am sure it is not a problem anymore. The problem with the corn happened over a year ago, I believe. Corn is not good for yorkies anyway. If you are looking for a good food, any food off this list is an excellent choice. All of these foods contain no corn or wheat products and are super premium quality.

| They have tons of free Diamond and Professional samples at my local feed store. You could feed a few Yorkies by going there weekly.

| I know the Diamond contamination was a tragedy but most human food companies have had recalls too. I think they will be ultra-careful after this and there should be no worries with their food. I do avoid corn in my Yorkie's food though. BUT.... Diamond's Small Breed Dog Food and their Chicken and Rice formulas both have no by-products and no corn. Their Puppy Food has no corn but it starts with the first ingredient being Chicken By-products meal I wrote the company and got assurances about the samples they sent me to make sure there was no chance they came from the contaminated source. I had also requested Chicken Soup and they sent me both Diamond and Chicken Soup. I have not fed the Diamond yet but will try out the adult versions. I feel they will be safe.

| I thought I would look around and see if other dog companies have had recalls too.... sure enough. I found recalls for Merricks, Royal Canin, Petcurean Go Natural, Fit and Active, Canine Cuisine, American Faire, and Ol'Roy. Some deaths were reported in these too, but none had such widespread tragic results as the Diamond aflotoxin. But it just might be a company that has gone through that difficult time might be even safer than one that had not. It has been over a year now -- plenty of time for them to prove safe. Here is the site with all the Diamond recall info from last year: http://www.diamondpetrecall.net/updates.html

The feed dealer I buy my horse feed from had a very negative experience with Diamond during the "recall" and subsequent panic.

| Well... I ended up using the samples of the Diamond Products and as I posted on another thread, she's doing GREAT on it. Much better then she did on Nutro. She has more energy (MUCH more energy) and her fur is so shiny. The only problem I've had is finding it. I've only seen it at one store (a family feed store) and not in any of the commercial places. According to the rep from Diamond Products, they're VERY selective about who they allow sell their product. |

No Longer a Member | My understanding is that the Diamond and Chicken soup are the exact same formulas marketed under different names. That's prolly why they sent them that way. I just picked up a bag of the diamond small breed puppy. Haven't tried it yet. We're almost out of the royal canin and I'm gonna try this next. Anyone else tried a billion different dog foods?! |
