Yorkie Yakker | Food Question Does anyone know of danger with eating DENTABONE on a daily basis for your litle yorkie? mine just loves it and expects to have it daily, she usually eats 1-2 per week. Is this safe and healthy for her? |

| Dentabone, isn't that the one that looks like a rawhide with the red thing through it? I don't have a package right now so I'm not sure but if it is, my puppy chew them constantly. He loves them! It takes him a really long time to get anything off of them though. I hope they are fine mine loves them. Sorry, wish I had more answers for you, I'll be watching to see what others have to say. | Dentabones are the ones that kinda crumble when you rub them and they are bone shaped. (yellow package, made by pedigree I believe) Winnie loves them, they last her about half an hour. I actually prefer the dentastix instead because they don't have nubs at the ends (which Winnie tries to swallow whole). I'm not sure about eating them everyday, although I haven't heard of anyone having trouble with them. |

| Ooooops! Guess I had the wrong ones! I could have sworn Teddy's were called Dentabone too? I took them all out of the package and had them in a zip lock bag so had forgotten though. I have them on my list to pick up today so I guess I'll see then whatthey are, DUH! LOL Kim and Teddy |

| The first thing I noticed when checking the website for ingredients is - not recommended for dogs under 11 pounds - 1 per day for dogs 11 pounds - 25 pounds so that makes me think there is more than just food in there (calcium for one) if they give dosage requirements. The next thing I notice is the preservatives are known to cause cancer - BHA and BHT (Ethoxyquin is the worst, but why don't they use natural preservatives like Vitamin E). I wouldn't feel good about giving them to my dog, especially on a daily basis. http://www.pedigree.com/dogProducts/...ne+-+small.asp Last edited by Lacy's Mom; 10-26-2006 at 09:43 AM. |
