Yorkie only likes eukanuba I know this is not the best dog food but my yorkie likes them because it size. Do you know other dog foods that are small or mini in size ? She is 14 weeks and weight 3lb. I tried innova for puppy she actually tries to bite is but doesn't continue. Any advice ? Thanks.

I use Natural Balance which isn't very small but my little one does fine with it. So, I may not be much help but I have read here that Chicken soup for the puppies soul is tiny...and it's a very good food. Kim

| Your puppy will prefer the Eukanuba as it may have grease sprayed on it, yuck. I found that when switching your pup to a better healthier choice they do not always want to. Stay persistent and most puppies will get hungry and chow down in a day, its all in their best interest. Just do not make the mistake of giving too many options or switching foods often that can lead to picky eaters. Also switch the foods slowly by mixing the new with their old and day by day reduce the amount of the old food till their bowl is new only. Switching should take about a week, many will still pick out the yummier pieces and leave the rest, be strong. This is the Whole Dog Journal's top picks for 2005. They base their choices on quality of ingredients. All the choices are human grade except the nutro ultra, which is new in 2005. | I fed Eukanuba for years without any problems. You are right though there are better foods available. I now feed Nutro Natural Ultra and mine didn't mind the switch, but it was done gradually and they were adults. Innova is a good food. I've never used it so I don't know how hard it is, but my 6 week old puppies were able to chomp the Nutro Natural Ultra without any problems. It's larger than Eukanuba, but flat. Sometimes I think Eukanuba may be too small and puppies just swallow it. Try throwing out 4 or 5 pebbles you want her to eat a couple of times a day on the carpet and they usually eat them right up or give one piece by hand as a treat and you'll have her switched in no time at all. |

She actually eats the pebbles but stop after 4-5 pebbles. Probaby I should make her really hungry. If I mix the food with eukanuba, she will only eat the eukanuba. I will try your trick to make the pebble as a treat. Thanks.

UPDATE: After reading all the discussion and suggestion, I decided to try to mix the innova puppy food with canned merrick puppy food (less than 1 teaspoon). She eats all the food and seems ok with it. Thank you all for your suggestion. The canned merrick puppy food seems very tasty (for human too). Out of curiosity, how often do you feed your 4 month old puppy ? I feed her 3 times a day but thinking to change it to twice a day. Do you have any reommendation when is the correct time to switch ?
