| Aloe Vera Gel for Surgical Site After Spay I sent the breeder pictures of Angel's surgical site after surgery as it's bumpy. She said, "I would get a little aloe gel and put it on her scar it will help it heal and should take some of that rough appearance away." The vet said it would take 2-3 months for the scar to go away. Do I buy pure aloe vera gel from a health store? I went to Dominion and asked the pharmacist if they sell aloe gel. They only have Solarcaine w/ aloe gel so I didn't get it. I thought I'd ask the YT experts. You can see the pictures below. |

| I don't see any pics.... but Oscar had bumps when he got neutered too - they went away in a couple months - it's just scar tissue. Unless it really bothers you, I would just leave it be and let it heal on its own. You can't even see where Oscar's incision was now (and he had two cause he was a cryptorchid neuter) Oscar would have just licked anything off I put down there anyways!

| Aloe Vera gel is poisonous so I have been told and they would lick it off. I would be afraid to use that. Maybe someone else hears knows about aloe vera.? |

| I wouldn't use Aloe for the simple fact that they could lick it off. I think the scar will definately go away on its own. |

| She also has 2 layers of internal sutures. Would this cause the bumpiness as well? Thanks. |

| I would just leave it and see what happens as it closes up. If you do have a problem just bring her back to the vet. |

| We'll be taking Angel for her annual exam in Jan/07, so I will ask the vet if it's not healed by then. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali had a huge incision and her surgery was done 8 months ago and you cannot even tell she had an incision so I would probably leave it. Also a few days ago CAli got into an Aloe plant and it was listed as toxic but I called Animal Emergency and they said it wan't toxic but to watch her for vomiting and diahrrea so I wouldn't use it on her.
