My baby Pete is now 1.5yrs, when we first brought him home at 12wks he did hiccup (no clue how to spell that) several times throughout the next few weeks but he did grow out of it. Ive heard other people on here talk of their puppy hiccuping as babys too. Pete also reverse sneezes often it sounds like a backwards snort, like a pig. The reverse sneeze is harmless and you can supposedly get them to stop by putting your finger over their nostrils so they breath through their mouth, but I can never get Pete to sit still for that.

Yeah it is silly, and a bit embarassing when he does in front of a stranger they look at him like hes a monster! So I guess it will come in handy for Halloween

I agree it can sound funny, as long as they haven't any serious health issues causing it, it can be quite endearing.

Emma gets both hiccups and those gosh-awful reverse sneezes. The hiccups can last anywhere from a minute to 20 minutes! I think it's cute when she does that-it's so funny, and the look on her face! The reverse sneezes sound AWFUL!!! I have taken her to the vet 3 separate times for this, thinking her little trachea is collapsing, or that she can't breathe. Each time-they say it's her allergies and there's nothing to worry about. The final time I took her was Friday morning. She's been getting "attacks" of these sneezes, which my husband was really concerned about, and he thought it was asthma. Again, vet checked her over, took temp, looked down her throat, listened to her breathing, and once again, just allergies, nothing to worry about. She did give Emma cough medicine w/steroids for a few days to help the problem. I think it's working-and now that it's cold out, there are fewer allergens in the air to bother my baby's nose.

I agree the reverse sneezes sound frightening when you first here them. I too thought something was collapsing in the airways when my first Yorkie did it. I am glad your baby will be more free of allergens now it is colder.
