| Yorkie not eating Hi, I'm new to YorkieTalk. I have two Yorkies, one weighing 2 1/2 pounds and the other 4 pounds who are both 4 years old. My little girl who is 2 1/2 pounds won't eat dog food anymore. Occasionally she eats a few pieces of dry dog food but not enough and she has lost a half pound. I have had her to two different vets on numerous occasions and they tell me not to worry. However, I do. She will eat scrambled eggs but I worry about giving them to a dog. Does anyone have any suggestions on some other type of food (people food) that she would eat and would be good for her? Both vets told me that she will eat when she gets hungry enough but I don't think so. I have tried every kind of canned dog food and dry dog food on the market. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. |

My furkids Donating Member | Do you have any nutrical? This will sometimes stimulate them to eat. She is really tiny and you wouldn't want her to get hypoglycemic. And I WOULD be worried too! I have a finicky eater that is 2 1/2 yrs old..she has been since I got her. I boil some chicken breast and put very little in with her kibbles, I also give her a few peices of canned dog food cut up and mixed in as well..she will eat this. She doesn't have an eating schedule...she pretty much eats when she feels like it. I have a new puppy who is on Nutro Ultra puppy...Sadie LOVES her new fursisters food however,,,,she needs adult food so....I went out and bought the Nutro Adult and she eats it. Maybe you could try some of the baby (skin baby) meat sticks...She needs to eat...And as for the vet saying she will eat when she is hungry...I wouldn't go for that...Yorkies are very small dogs and shouldn't go without eating. Good Luck...I hope you find something she will eat.

I got my puppy about 4 weeks ago he is 11 weeks tomorrow and i cannot get him to eat.....This is my story...So first i had him on purina pro plan because the vet recommended..but he seemed to be allergic to corn because he would scratch sooo much so i changed his food to Solid Gold Wee bits which at first he did eat good and then recently he stopped eating again...so i was reading on here and i saw that a lot of pple mix in boiled chicken with the dry food so i did that and he loved it he licked the bowl clean..that worked for about 1 day only!!! What do i do??? Ive ready on here that a lot of pple feed their picky puppies Nutro..so I am thinking of getting him that...Its so hard because I get so happy that he eats and then I worry so much when he stops and it just goes back and forth....so please help...Oh yea one more question i saw that a lot of you guys give them scrambled eggs...??? is my puppy to young for that ?? what about the cholestorol??? isnt it bad for him?? | Sissy eats mostly people food. Eggs are okay. She gets yogurt every morning for breakfast and then gets some of my oatmeal later on (the real slow cooked kind). For dinner she gets boiled chicken with sweet potato, and assorted veggies and sometimes brown (slow cooked) rice. She stopped eating her kibble when she had Giardia at 9 months. Now at 13 months she has started eating some kibble again, just not enough for a meal. Sometimes she will also eat the Natural Balance meat rolls. When they are so tiny, I do not subscribe to the theory of insisting they only eat dog food and when they are hungry enough they will eat. They can also become hypoglycemic and die in a very short time frame - so get her to eat something and supplement with NutriCal as necessary. Good luck & keep us posted.
