| Great New Treat Idea Ok, so I am a Yorkie Treat Dork.... I admit it. But.... I have made a HUGE GREAT FANTASTIC discovery for a teeny tiny treat that is GOOD FOR YOUR DOG! My dogs love cheese, but it is very messy to use as as training treat. I kept thinking about how to make the cheese more stable.... and what I discovered, kinda sorta by accident was..... If you take a slice of deli cheese -- swiss works GREAT because it is hard and pungent..... anyway, lay the cheese slices between two layers of very absorbent papertowels (I use Viva here at the house) and let it set at room temp until it is dehydrated. The excess grease is absorbed by the paper towel and believe me, the cheese DOES NOT spoil, mold, or otherwise grow gross things. What happens is that the cheese just dries out and gets crunchy so you can take the slice and break of tiny little tidbits. Now when I say, "Howard, do you want a TREAT?" he comes running. A way to a man's heart (even a dogman) is through his stomach. |
