| Pet Insurance Has anyone got their babies some insurance? I'm looking at one right now, it's VPI Insurance...I still don't know if it's worth it to get my baby one though. Any insights? Thanks! |

| Buddy has VPI pet ins. I've been pretty happy with VPI pet ins. It costs me $28/month. It was about $21 for regular ins, then I added a "rider" for $7 for annual shots, etc. Out of the first $900 in bills, we got back about $675. He was sick with pancreatitis. They do exclude any preexisting conditions...he has allergies and was diagnosed with them a year before we got the ins. and his shots are not covered. A few of our vet appts weren't covered either (for ear problems) because they attributed that to the allergies. But, overall, I am satisfied...I've already made out for the next few years. Mickey & Buddy, too!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have it too. They did exclude some preexisting conditions so I didn't get a ot back, but more then I paid in. On about 5500.00 in expenses I got about 1200 back and so far I have only paid about 260.00 in premiums, so I am happy. It definately helps with big expenses.

| I don't know. It's hard to say. But if I had a tiny, I think I would. I carried it for the first year of my puppy's life. If you have money available in case your puppy has some accident or illness that might cost thousands, then you might not find it worth it. If not, it is probably a good idea to carry it. Who wants to be faced with making a life and death decision, when you can save a puppy's life just because you have money saved or you can carry insurance? That's about the only way to look at it.

| Pet Insurance? I have been mulling over the same thing in the last few months; I just wish I had acted quicker. Kia was attacked by a larger dog two weeks ago, and the vet costs came to $500.00-(over half my monthly income), to replace her eye and stitch it closed to give her a chance to heal. The eyeball is fine, but the muscles are stretched enough that the original vet says the eye must come out. The cost for that is approximately anoher $700.00. It is rather ironic, as I have been looking for a playmate for Kia, and for all that money, I could have purchased a puppy! I am seriously considering insurance now-maybe it will help another time. |
