| help, she won't eat out of her bowl My puppy is really weird!! She will NOT eat her dry food out of her dog dish...she will however eat canned food (or the other dogs-adult formula food out of her dish) but she will eat her food if it is on the floor or if i have it in my hand...so I don't think she doesn't like it...I am trying to make her eat out of her dish...but it is so hard for me when she doesn't eat!!!

| This is typical yorkie behavior. It is frustrating isn't it??? |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | We had this exact same problem with Magic...it was so fustrating as she would not eat anywhere but the floor...but last week at the vet, he told us to put a little bit of plain yogurt in with their foods to help with their diet ( she has a very sensitive stomach) and ever since we did this she is staring waiting for her bowl...it is amazing...and now they both eat great...esp. Magic!! Just a suggestion...

| I feed both my dogs in their crate now. She will eat it out of her bowl and all of it when I do that. |

| Reagan used to do this and in fact she really liked it if we would slide her a piece of foor from across the room. It was kind of cute though to see her pounce on the food then scarf it down. And the best way would be to send her one piece then wait until she got it down to send another. In the beginning this is the only way she would eat then I quit doing it and I guess it was either eat out of the bowl or starve.

| I had the same problem with Gucci. She eats from a plate thou, but it took a while. She did eat from my hand or of the floor. So your Yorkie is not weird, is a typical Yorkie after all. |

| Mocha started like that too but now she eats out of her dish... I do see her put her paw in her bowl occassionally and swat some pieces out

| Gracie did this from the about time I got her at 2 1/2 months til about 6 months. It was funny because when the food would move around the bowl she would jump back because it make noise. But when I put it on the carpet she would eat it up. I was thinking it had something to do with the noise the food made when it was moving in the bowl as she was eating it. She is not too bad anymore I guess if she wants to eat she will deal with it and she does....she eats very well. I have however experienced this too. I am not sure other than the noise factor that would scare GRacie. Some strange unexplained Yorkie behavior to add to the list

| Gidget takes a piece or two, carries it into the living room, spits it out, examines it, eats it, and then goes back for more. |

| My new puppy was hardly eating so yesterday I gave him some kibble off the floor and he loved it! I didn't care as long as he's eating. He did eat some wet puppy food out of a dish this morning though. |

| Maggie's Mom Same here with my Maggie. She's 9 weeks old and a picky eater. The breeder said make sure she eats something. Well, when she didn't want her dog food, it went to scrambled eggs, boiled chicken breast, cottage cheese, rice. I am trying now to get her back on her dog food. She started getting really chubby on the human food. Today I noticed that she would eat her dry puppy food if it was on the floor. So I guess I will have a floor eater too. I just make sure she gets her Nutristat, so she won't crash on me. Let me know if there is a better way to get them to eat their dog food. I will for sure try the plain yogurt on the dry food. |

| Beau will eat some things out of a bowl, some off a saucer, but he likes it best when I drop it on the floor, piece by piece so he can dart at it and attack it. |

| Miss Maggie Thank you all for this excellent website. I have only had my Maggie for 8 days now. I bought her six weeks ago, but could only visit her at her mom's. Now that she is home, it's like a real life baby. Not only does she step on my toes, but steps on my heart too. |
