| Do you feed homemade?????? Hi! This is my second thread on this (sorry) but I want to get this right. Ginger's allergy tests came back and the list is long. So I'm considering feeding homemade. But there are so many conflicting opinions out there! I've read that it's the best AND the worst thing you can do for your dog. So, c'mon yorkietalkers, if you've been feeding homemade, how is that going for you? Have you seen improvements in your furbaby? What foods do you use most, what do you avoid? Do you use vitamin supplements? I'm asking for any and all input.

| i do make my own food quite a bit of the time, i feed them alot of chicken, chicken breasts and chicken livers, and chicken hearts, with rice, and veggies, i do different dishes, for them, i have noticed their coats are more shiney, and they are so much happier. I also put apple cider vinegar in the drinking water, they are very healthy, vet is quite impressed with me....

| the other thing the dogs just love is garlic, not the cloves but powder, this is also good for them, and stay away from corn due to allergies here's one of my dogs favorite stews mommy makes for them, and not one word of a lie my male Peeka sits there and cries until its down on the flour...... chicken hearts Whole) enough water to cover add a sprinkle of garlic chicken bullion 1/2 c of brown rice 1 stalk of celery cut into slivers 2 carrots diced into tiny pieces Now cook until the rice is cooked and this is where i get 2 knives and cut the hearts into tiny pieces, so no one chokes, ( because as soon as you put it down they will attack it) I have used shredded potato, and shredded brocolli stalks, and peas, and green beans, they say 60 meat 20 grains and 20% veggies I also do a meatloaf I first puree beef liver in a food processor until its like water around 1/2 c oats ground egg shells ( like powder) shredded veggie (your choice) sprinkle of garlic it now should be thick enough like a meat loaf turn this mixture into a meatloaf pan and cook for around 45 minutes at 350 or until cooked , just check like you would when you bake a cake. My dogs only get this for a treat once a week or even less than that hope this helps you out! If your little one allergic to oats, add rice instead.

| Gunner had touble with allergy when I bought him at 3mos. He was on Science. I changed his food to Ultra Holistic and he loves it. His scratching stoped and his dull coat went to shining. They guarantee that if your dog does not love it they will refund 100% of your money. Gunner will be 1 year old on the 5th and he will be going on the Ultra for adults. He is 6lbs of pure joy to me and my husband. |

I'm now considering Pinnacle Trout and Sweet Potato. I'll be starting a thread, see if anyone has any thoughts.

| I've been cooking pretty regularly for Sissy for 3 months. For breakfast she gets Dannon Activia vanilla yogurt. For dinner she gets boiled chicken breasts with a little brown rice, a little sweet potato, asparagus and green beans. She will sometimes eat the Natural Balance meat rolls for lunch. She also gets snacks of fruit during the day as well as her doggie snacks. She has recently begun eating dry kibble again, but not enough for a meal. She is eating Solid Gold Wee Bits. Her yogurt drop treats have vitamins in them. I'm looking into adding missing link. Her coat is nice and soft, thought it could be a little shinier. She also gets a little piece of a Dingo Stick every day for her teeth. The rest of her treats are hard, also for her teeth.

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | I have been buying organtic baby food, I read the ingredients to make sure it's 100% fruit and veggies and I mix that with chicken and a little whole grain rice. I dont do this all the time cause her stools tend to be loose when I give her anything soft. Not sure why. Dont know if it's cause she is still a puppy or just so small. |

It sure does get confusing when some lists (re unsafe foods) say different things than others. I always thought tomatoes were safe (just not the plant part) but I was reading a dog magazine and its says they are not. I've got it written down to ask my vet what she thinks.
