| Adie has a Fontanel Adie is 15 weeks old today. The vet first told me that she has a fontanel (soft spot) when she was 9 weeks old. At that time she (the vet) said it would probably close and not to worry about it. (Just don't let her bang her head on anything.) When she was 12 weeks old my husband had another vet take a look at it and he said it was alright. (That's all he said and hubby didn't ask questions.) Now she is 15 weeks old and the fontanel is still there. It doesn't get bigger as her skull gets bigger so I'm assuming that it will, indeed, close. Any thoughts on this? I did a search but wasn't pleased with what I turned up. There were just a few posts and most of them were about dogs that still had them. How long does the average puppy keep its fontanel anyway? Thanks |

| It will probably still close. Sometimes it just takes longer. And - I know a couple people whose dog's never did close - and even then, it never was much of a problem. Good luck! Carol Jean |

| I've had tiny yorkies that kept their open fontanel and did fine. My Sugar was 2.25 pounds and hers was pretty big. She lived with no problems with it. My Me-Me and Cupie who are also tiny has one and I'm not worried. My vet says it usually happens with the tiny ones. I do baby mine a lot though.

| I have a 14 week old female that has a soft spot, the first vet said it would close in a few weeks that was when she was 6 weeks old the second vet said that it was one of the biggest one he has seen BUT SHOULD CLOSE IN TIME. It has close a great deal since then it's about the size of a pea, you can't tell the diff in her than a regluar 14 week pup. |

| Sounds like my Me-Me. She runs the house. Me-Me won't let anyone go outside unless she grabs their legs first. She is only around 2.5 pounds and they are let her be the boss. I can't imagine this little yorkie ever slowing down, even with her PDA. The vet is amazed at how well she is doing. She can be such a spitfire and then curl up against you at night(after kisses on the lips)and cuddle so sweetly. I love it!
