I Love Thor Donating Member | Frontline not working...reapply? Hey guys, Thor got his monthly flea and tick treatment last week. Well...he's been itching like crazy AND I found at least three fleas on him and a tick. So what's the deal? Should I reapply? He's not a happy boy, but I don't want to OD him on flea stuff...Thanks We use Frontline Plus. |

| With most flea meds you can reapply every 2 weeks but I am not sure about frontline plus, I would ask your vet first. Did you bath him right after you applied and it washed off?? I had frontline plus before and it didn't work good for us. So now I either use advantage or revolution and they have all been flea and tick free for a very long time. Of course with fleas I prefer advantage. With had a huge problem years ago, about 8 years ago, we had to get a flea bomb but what really helped was the advantage, it really got rid of the fleas. I really like the flea and tick meds. that kills fleas instantly rather than the flea meds where the flea has to bite the dog first. I would ask your vet why it might not have worked and if necessary switch flea medicine.

| Maybe it was a bad batch. I'd ask the vet. |

| I'd Ask the vet about it That seems odd I have never had it NOT work. How long ago did you put it on him? Maybe it hasn't had time to work yet. Last edited by JeanieK; 08-23-2006 at 05:27 AM. |

| I had 2 vets tell me that it was perfectly fine to apply the Frontline Plus every 2 weeks. That is what I've been doing this summer since it has been such a horrible flea season! Trust me, I know what you're going through! But reapplying it every 2 weeks really has seemed to clear all the fleas up. |

| We us Frontline Plus. Once a month is what our vet told us. So far, haven't seen any fleas/ticks. But, I have a question, if anyone can help...What's better?....Frontline Plus or K9 Advantix? Like I said, Frontline Plus has worked for us, so far, so I wouldn't change it right now, but I was just curious.

| In my oppinion Frontline does not work. We thought the same thing, mabie it was just a bad batch, and wound up getting it again the folowing summer. It just doesent work. We had to get advantage to finish the job every time. Now we just get advantage only. My vet even told me that they have alot of complaints about the frontline, and that many more people prefer advantage.

| Thanks for the input . I guess I'll just stick with what is working for us right now (Fronline Plus), and if I do run into any problem in the future, I look into other options.

| I also wanted to add that my vet told us that they must not go near water at all after application for at least a week.

| hi, im new to the forum and would like to gather and share information about yorkies. iv been using frontline for my yorkie and i never had a problem with it. it did clear up his flea/tick problem. accdg to our vet, the best way to apply frontline is to give my yorkie a bath. then after 2 days, apply frontline and leave it on for a week. this is supposed to maximize the effect of frontline. hope this helps. |

| A week or two after Buddy go his first fronline treatment, I found a tick on his ear. I called the vet and he said that it was only his first treatment and it sometimes takes another treatment to really be effective and to give him another dose. I did, and haven't had a problem since. We live in the woods and have a serious tick problem. I am pleased I have found no more ticks on Buddy, cause Hubby and I get them often. Wish I could take Frontline. lol |
