I believe their were 3 different injections, I can't really remember. Ask your vet about it, and they should be able to keep your baby up to date

My little Peanut went on Thursday for is first visit with our vets. He received a clean bill of health. He did receive a shot and he cryed like crazy it broken my heart. My other dog and cat never made a peep when they received shots. I never had this one vet and I was not to impressed. She said he was being a baby, But he keep crying even after it was done. He goes back in 3 weeks and I will be requesting one of the other vets. Has anyone had this happen with shots. I don't think he was being a baby I think it really hurt. thanks, Vicki PS. I still can't get my pictures to load

I don't think he was being a baby.. Layla didn't so much mind getting the shot. but was she ever sore after! i coudln't even pick her up without her crying like she was dying.. broke my heart! she had shots when she was with her breeder... one set when i got her around 3 months... then she just had her final set at around 4 1/2 months.. this one had the rabies.. which COMPLETELY knocked her out... looking back i should have called the vet.. she was lathargic... breathing heavy.. had a fever.. something to watch for with the rabies... also she had a large lump on her back where the shot went in.. scared the crap out of me.. called the vet on call.. said it was normal but took 2 weeks to go away!

Here in Virginia, puppies get three rounds of shots. The first at 8 weeks, second at 12 and the last at 16 weeks. The first two sets consists of a combo shot of the following: Distemper, Adenovirus 2, Parainfluenza and Parvovirus. The last vaccination at 16 weeks consists of all of the above with an addition of rabbies and if your furbaby goes to doggie daycare or gets boreded, they will also get Bordetella. After that, the furbabies are done until one year later. At which time they receive their annuals of DAPP and a three year rabbies. I got lucky and found a Vet that does not believe in over vaccinating and will allow for bi-annual or even tri-annual vaccinations thereafter on a case by case basis. Hope this answers your question. And, I'd most certainly look into another "caring and sensitive" Vet for your furbaby. Last edited by MinMuf1; 08-20-2006 at 01:03 PM.

I asked this same question when I got my baby. I ended up calling the local vet and they said they needed 4 puppy shots then the rabies(when they're 4-6 months old). My dad goes to a different vet and his puppy had the same amount of shots. Most people on here say 3 then the rabies but for some reason it's now 4 where I live(Michigan).
