| does this look like allergies? My female yorkie, Gabby (6 this year) has some thining hair on her sides and neck area and Im not sure if its from allergies or old age. Her hair never grows longer than what it is in the pictures (taken today 8/10/06) so im leanin more to an allergy problem.. They dont have fleas because we gave them a pill that kills them in 30min. and then gave frontline the next (and they get combed with a flea comb) but she does scratch a lot. My male yorkie, TJ, had allergies last month real bad to the point his whole skin was ruby colored and scratched till he bled. a shot of cortizone and some relief shampoo from the vet cured that. so im not sure if its allergies. http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...t/DSCF0839.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...t/DSCF0841.jpg |

| It could be allergies.. BTW, did your other dog's skin look like this? Was he itching a lot? How soon after the shot was he back to normal? What kind of shampoo was he on? I think I'm dealing with the same thing... Mine is on antibiotics and benedryl but it doesn't work!

| i've fed them the same thing since we had them, but the one that i was talkin about wasnt the one who had allergies last month... that picture you showed. my male with the allergies last month looked not as deep of a red unless that was were he was currently scratchin at. but he had it all over his entire body. and when i took him to the vet he said it was allergies, gave him a shot of cordizone *that would last for the entire month* and made us buy thier relief shampoo. and it started fading back to normal by the next week. but he's totally fine now except for dry skin. i posted the same topic in the emergancy section and i found that i do have to switch thier foods because both thier dry and wet food have corn in them (goin to switch to the chicken soup brand). and im goin to switch thier shampoo to another product by the same brand. one thats more better for thier hair/skin.
