| Help! Is my dog having false pregnancy? I have a 1 year old chihuahua that went into heat for the first time about a month ago. We did not breed her and do not wish to. Her cycle was normal and quick. But now she appears to be getting breasts tissue or whatever you might want to call it. I dont think that there is any way she can be pregnant(I have no male dogs and she only goes outside supervised). I did get my female yorkie a month ago and I dont know if this is making my chihuahua hormonal or something. My friend thinks she is having a false pregnancy. Is this possible? Is it just hormones? Will it go away? Should I worry? she is only a year old and already has saggy boobs She doesnt have any other symptoms though. Please Help!

| HI I posted the same thing a couple of weeks ago. My maltese went through her first heat cycle and then got swollen. I wasn't too worried at first because I thought that might be typical. But then they didn't go back to normal and they got hard. They just now have finally gone down and back to normal. I'm not sure if it was an actual false pregnancy or not. She showed none of the other symptoms. She went through her heat about two months ago. Hopefully things will turn out the same for you. Chloe did not get milk or anything. I think if your Tinkerbell gets milk or very hard nipples that are hurting her then be concerned and call vet. I am going to look for the article that was recommended to me and get it for you, it was helpful in understanding what false pregnancy is. |

| Thanks for the article and reply. I specifically dont want to breed tinkerbell becausee i dont want her to have the saggy nipple look. I bred my boxer once a year ago and all her nipples sag ridiculously. So i am sad this is happening to her. I am hoping it will go away. By the way do you make your dog clothes on ebay? They are cute and I like that they have the legs.

| Chloe's boobies are not old lady saggy from the experience so I'm sure your Tinkerbell will be fine. And yes I do sell dog clothes on ebay. I recognized your user name right away as being a seller too. I like your dresses a lot and your site as well. I'm enjoying a bit of a break from sewing so much. The coats did really well this winter and there were days that I did nothing but sit at that sewing machine. I'm sure you can relate. I plan to start doing some frilly tank tops soon. Just got to get the kids back to school from being on a break and catch up on some other things so I can get creative again. |

| My 1 year old yorkie just got over a false pregnancy and although it sounds like something harmless and sweet, you should really go to the vet because it can cause illnesses like pyometra and mastitis which can both be fatal if not treated.Jessies boobies got very big and she even produced milk,ALOT of it,she was uncomfortable and they obviously hurt. This can cause mastitis which is not only painul and uncomfortable but it can be fatal.Squeeze one of your chihuahuas nipples gently and see if she is producing milk..you dont have to do it hard.Whilst Jess was having her false pregnancy the milk would just drip out. Your vet will give you something to stop it straight away if she really is having a false pregnancy, the meds take about 15 days to work so you had better get there as soon as you can. Here is some info on false pregnancies,I found this whilst Jess was having hers: http://www.*********.com/mbbs2/forum...ighlightmode=1 |
