My furkids Donating Member | question here on new (up coming) puppy Hi Yt'ers. I know there are alot of very informative people out here...I could use your help.... I have been reading alot about nutrical...what exactly is this? I had never heard of this until I became a YT member. I have been a yorkie owner for 2 1/2 years now and never had this for Sadie. I am assuming it is something that helps a hypoglycemic pup...right? I have a friend who's little girl had 3 episodes with hypoglycemia and almost lost her once she had to bring her to the vets for IV therapy. I certainly don't want this to happen to my new baby. Is nutrical something that you give all the time? Is there anything you can do to prevent an attack? Like I said I never had any problem with Sadie.... Thanks everyone!

| Nutrical is a nutritional suppliment that has sugar in it. It is always good to have some of this around. A few months ago My Chachi had diahrea and the vet wanted to fast him. We gave him nutrical because we woried about his blood sugar getting low. Whenever a pup is sick and not eating you should give nutrical

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | also having karo syrup around is good to if you can't get the nutrical in them rubbing the syrup on the gums on the way to the vet will help the blood sugar!

| If the pup is small you could give it every day as a precaution. I did this untill my pups reached 2 lbs then I quit giving it everyday.

| It says on the bottle everyday, but I only give it to Rocky if he hasn't been eating. He loves it! Now as soon as he sees the tube he starts sticking his tongue out rapidly like he's already licking it, and I dont even have it out of the tube yet! |

| I gave it to both of my pups when it was very hot. I figured this way they'd get some nutrients even though they were eating till late. They both love it. The breeder said I could give it to them as a little treat. Do you think that's okay? |

| Being too cold, too hot and not eating, sick and not eating, getting too tired, stress, like coming to a new home can all cause hypoglycemia. It is always a good idea to have Nutri-cal and Karo on hand. There are many good sites explaining what it is and what to do for it. I'm sure once you read as much as you can, you won't be near as worried because you'll know exactly what to do. Congratulations on your new baby...
