| When can she go on her first walk?? My puppy, Hootie, is 12 weeks old now. We've had her for 5 weeks now and she is doing just great! She has already learned to walk on a leash and she walks on it everytime I take her out to potty. So, when can she go on her first official "walk"?? Our older yorkie, Hobbs, LOVES to go on walks, but we feel bad taking him and leaving Hootie behind. That means that Hobbs hasn't gotten to go on a walk in awhile. My hubby and I wanted to go on a walk this afternoon and we REALLY want to take BOTH dogs. Is it too early for Hootie to go on her first walk? |

| It is important that they have all their puppy shots before you are taking them in public. I would think this would apply to walking your pup since she is very cute and there might be folks who want to stop and pet her. Puppy shots won't prevent against parasites such as Giardia and Coccidia which they can pick up from many other sources that may be present while walking her. They can get really sick with both of these, so holding off a little longer might be a good idea.

| I think you have to wait a couple weeks after their last set of shots - I think they should be at least 16 weeks before they venture outside for anything other than a quick potty break. (there have been some posts on here recently about how long to wait before taking them outside, maybe try a search?)

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | Well my vet told me they need all thier shots before going out on the ground but he told me i could carry them anywhere and they would be fine. so mabey get one of those strollers or take her in the pet carrier when you go for a walk and just tell people politly who want to pet here that she hasn't had her shots yet so they can't touch her most people will understand. It's a tough call because my vet said even if you got the parvo virus on you shoe walking through say petsmart you can still give it to your baby so it's a lose lose situation just take the nessesary precaution and i think you will be ok! Good luck and let us know what you decide!
