| Help! We have two yorkies and the female is younger (5months) than the male(6months), but a little bigger. We feed them in the same bowl but she seems to eat all the food while he sits and watches her, we do feed him seperatly afterward but what can we do about this we would like them to be able to share the same bowl at the same time.

| I am no expert, but I think that you should feed them seperately so that you can observe their eating habits - not eating can be a sign of problems and you would want to be able to notice this. Is there a reason that you want them to eat out of the same bowl. Although, it may be cute, I would think that they would enjoy not being in each others face during the "chow-down". IMO. |

| We just figured it would be easier but even if we were to put two bowls in their pen she would still eat it all. He wont even eat if we put him in the pen by himself with her outside the pen, i have to take him to my room for him to eat.

| Sounds to me like you have a dominance issue on your hands. The leader of the pack always eats first and the other dogs are not allowed to eat until the leader is done. The leader may punish anyone who is in less rank if the dog tries to eat before the leader. This establishes rank and usually the biggest and strongest are the leaders. Your smaller pup is just respecting the dominant pup and the rules. Some dogs can eat out of the same bowl but if your pup sits back and won't eat unless he is in a different room then they won't be able to do this. I think you will just have to feed them in separate rooms so the other pup does not feel threatened by the other puppy.

| I have my dry food in the same dish for all three of them but the wet food, I use three dishes. i sit Silk's off to the side away from the little guys. She is a hog and will eat it all. then i sit down in my easy chair and put the other two's food right near my feet and read the paper while they eat so I can keep an eye on Silk. |
