| Silky Terrier or a Yorkie??? My mom is getting a Yorkie, or so she has been told by the current owner. (current owner is giving Reese to her at no charge due to new baby). The lady told her it's a Yorkie even on his papers. But mom tells me that he's long and sort of short legged, he has a long muzzle too. I explained he's most likely a Silky. He is eating Dog Chow? Some yucky kind of food, and the owner has been bathing him in Johnson&Johnson Baby Shampoo, ugggh. Mom said he has course hair, and he sheds. Sounds to me that he's a silky in BAD NEED of TLC. New kibble (like Canidae, Nutro, etc) and shampoo and conditioner (BioSilk or something).... What do you think? Maybe his hair is coarse and falling out due to those conditions and possible allergies?

| Hi the food and shampoos very well can make a difference in the coat and skin condition. Get it onto a good quality food and shampoos/conditioners for bathing. It likely is a Yorkie. I have seen them long backed and short legged. This is a pet, enjoy it as a pet and have it spayed/neutered, so it doesn't matter. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | If it says yorkie on paper then it's a yorkie. Yorkies come in all shapes and sizes. Silkies are a different breed and the papers would state Silky. Good food and good shampoos/conditioners are the key to taking care of yorkie hair. Same as human hair. You use the cheap kind and it won't be as nice as if you use the better quality kind.

| It is probably allergies, the shampoo and diet. We have had silky for 14 years and thier coats are very silky.
