Gucci is in "heat" Gucci is in "heat' for the first time. Gucci is 9 months now. She is being sleeping a lot. I was wondering if that's normal? Also I need advise cause her skin is very dry and flaky. She was on meds and special shampoos for ringworm for a couple of months but finally thats over. I had to bathe Gucci every 5 days with the special shampoo; probably that dry up her skin. Now i need to know what to do to help her skin and coat. Now that she is in heat i will love to bathe her every day, but i dont want to dry her skin more. Any advise is very appreciated.

Maddies has dry skin too and I really notice it when I brush her and the dandruff shows up. My vet told me to mix a little vegetable oil in with her food...just enough to stick over the food. I haven't tried that yet, but plan to soon. Good luck and hope little Gucci is comfortable during her heat cycle. I don't know, but I would think sleeping would be something they'd do while in heat...poor little thing probably has cramps and doesn't feel so great!

I think the first heat is the hardest on them. your probably correct about the medicated shampoo drying her coat out. I would get some "derm caps" or "gold caps" to help from the inside out. You could also try a mild shampoo like Nova pearls. Petedge.com is a good place to find stuff.

Bella just started her 2nd heat, first was in august, and she is completely wiped out by it. She does sleep more, wants more attention, wants to be babied. (sp?)
