| How COLD is TOO COLD My DH and DD's were going to the Itchetucknee Springs on July 8th. It's about 1.5hr drive from home. Then you put your inner tube in at the top of the river and float down for about 1.5hr thru the trees, some places it's shady for a minute or two, others its sunny. I was wondering if we should take the dogs (cockapoo and yorkie) with us, letting them ride in our lap. It does NOT go fast at all. BUT here's the catch, the water is so cold that it's like 68-70 degrees year round, of course you get used to it after a little bit, and youre fine. But does anyone think it's a good idea with the furkids going along?

| I'm definitely not an expert here, but I know how cold 70 degree water is (I was a competetive swimmer) for humans. I also know how easily Sissy gets cold and I know this temperature would be waaaayyyyy too cold for her.

| I think I would leave the dogs at home and enjoy the day. Having two pups along with be like having two babies along! |

| I've definatley decided NOT to take the furkids. When my husband was reminding me how much I whined the last time we went, due to cold water at first, I made my decision. Thanks for listening.

| My sister-in-law takes her cat river rafting down the Boise River all the time. She swears the cat enjoys it. I personally think tubing down a river would be a little much for either of my dogs. I'm not sure the temperature would be what bothered them most. I think the ride would frighten them. And - accidents are certainly possible. However - both of my dogs love to be handed to me when I'm on a raft at the lake. I make sure I keep them wet (so they don't get too hot) and we float around and all of us enjoy this. They even lie down and just float along... Carol Jean |
