| Neena after surgery Neena's surgery was today. She got spayed and had a mammary tumor removed. The vet used only gas on her and she seemed to do quite well afterwards. She is on pain meds now and had some Gerber baby food (beef) for dinner. She is still at the vet's for observation. The vet discovered that Neena also has a heart murmur which was of concern to her because Neena's blood pressure dropped during the proceeding. They also removed a melanoma tumor on her leg. Vets don't like melanoma tumors in a dog's mouth or on their legs. The mammary tumor is going to be tested; hopefully it is not one that metastasizes. Poor Neena... Gosh, she is so little anyway. Now I also understand why she tires so easily. After I adopted her a few month ago, I decided to cut her hair really short; that's when I found the mammary tumor and the dark tiny lump on her leg. I am glad now that I did; otherwise I may have stayed oblivious to the problem. Hopefully the pathology test is not bad news. My son and I love this little dog so much. She is part of our family. | How old is she? I am so sorry for hr problems and I hope they are nothing serious! We do get atached to these furbabies so quickly and it is heartbreaking when they are sick. They are so so innocent! |

| Thanks Thanks for your replies and prayers; they are very much appreciated. Neena is almost 8 years old. I can't wait for her to come home tomorrow. I took a day off work so I can be with her and make sure she is ok. |

| Was she getting spayed for health reasons? Was she a breeding dog? |

| Neena Neena's previous owner did not leave much information for me when I adopted her. In fact, I thought for sure Neena was spayed until she came into heat... then I knew. It just never entered my mind why a 7 year old female dog would not be spayed. I don't have a lot of history on her... I wish I did. Neena looked unkept and was smelly the day I took her home with me. Her owner was more interested in other things... and I will leave it at that. |
