| Hair loss Hey Everyone, I have a one year old and he's starting to lose his hair on his back near the tail and on the underside of the tail . He bits that area constantly. On top of that, he's shedding. I thought Yorkies did not shed. Does anyone have any suggestions on shampoos and/or medications that I might try? I bathe him twice a month because he's inside all the time and is litter box trained. Also, he does not have any fleas. Thanks, CAS Last edited by CAS; 05-07-2006 at 05:53 AM. |

| Yorkies dont normally shed. You might want to go to the vet to rule out mites. They will do a skin scrape. An oatmeal shampoo would be good. Also adding Missing Link to the diet would be good. It is a suppliment with Omega 3 in it, It is good for the skin and coat. I get it at Petsmart.

| Thanks. I will try the oatmeal shampoo tonight and, maybe bathe him once a week. However, I do intend to take him to vet just in case it is mites. |

| It sounds like mites to me, and they can get out of control in a hurry. so I'd take him ASAP |
