Default Very Mad at Frontline Plus Right Now!

Okay, since Baby had two ticks on her in the past couple of weeks, I went out and got Frontline Plus. I applied it (correctly) on April 10th. Well, today when I was bathing her, I found a tick slightly imbedded in her head. I was so pissed!! Now, maybe I'm not understanding this, so someone please help me.

* I thought that Frontline was a tick repellent. Repellent is supposed to repel. Well, it didn't do its job.

* Or, am I wrong? Is it not a repellent? Does it just kill ticks after they bite and they fall off dead? Or do they just fall off alive?

If this is the case, am I gonna have ticks all over my house? This really concerns me because if that's how it works that grosses me out! I want a repellent!

Help me, I'm going nuck'n futs!

i use K-9 advantix! I LOVE IT!!! I wouldn't worry to much about finding that tick. I don't think that you are going to have ticks all over your house or anything. I would just wait until the month is up and get some k-9 advantix. It repell's fleas ticks, and miskitoes. Im sure I miss spelled that one. But you get the idea! Best of luck!

Frontline Plus does not repel ticks, it only kills them when they are on the dog. The only flea and tick medicine that I know of that kills fleas, tick, and repels mosquitos, fleas, and ticks is K9 Advantix, I heard great things from it and my vets recommend it.

the company claims that ticks will die within 48 hrs once on the dog. In my opinion, I don't think there is any product that will repel ticks or fleas. they might jump on and take a taste and decide they don't want to stay.

Thanks, now I'll have to go buy that!

romeo got a tick on k9 advantix. i was very upset. i understand the topical stuff is not 100% effective. i try to be positive. 1 tick in 3 years isn't that bad. i guess it works. we are fortunate they are happy and healthy. my sister, lives in hawaii and her terrier had hundreds of ticks from getting loose and running through a sugar cane field. he was completely covered on his bottomside. it was a nightmare for my sister and her pet. her dog was on frontline.

oh yeah... my sister didn't apply her frontline as directed. she ran it down his entire back instead of just the neck area. we guess he rubbed it off on the grass.

O my God. Nasty!!!! I think my cousin and I are going to put cobblestone in our whole back yard. You think that will help? I can't put up with this tick crap! I've been itching all night!

your backyard looks pretty safe. no deer wandering through or trees for ticks to drop down from. did you take your baby to the park or woods before you found the tick???? the good thing about cobblestone is it naturally keeps their nails short. the bad thing is no runoff for water or reduction of noise. we live in nj too. southern nj near philadelphia. we have over an acre of trees, mulch, and bushes. only 1 tick ever in 3 years.

No! You see, that's what's weird...she's gotten three ticks from my backyard! It's new construction and there's barely any grass growing yet. I don't know where they are all coming from. Oh, and what do you mean reduction of noise? From what? Thanks!

if i remember rightly from my days as a vet assistant - frontline only works once the offender comes in contact with the blood, so ticks and fleas will still appear but should die pretty quickly.

Thanks, that's what I figured from reading these posts. Do you know anything about K-9 Advantix. I saw from reading on the Internet they that's supposed to repel ticks. What do you think? Thanks!
