HELP! My baby has bumps My 7 month old Yorkie has these itty bitty bumps on him. You can feel them but its hard to see them. They are on his head and the back of his neck. There's alos one that resembles a scab on his back. At first we thought they were flea bites, but we've checked a million times, and he doesn't have fleas! Plus, he's on an anti-flea pill from the vet. Anyone have any idea what the bumps are?

| Mites maybe? Or maybe an allergic reaction to something? Hopefully your vet can give a diagnosis for your little one and make him feel better soon.

I don't think it's mites. And he has had these for awhile so I don't think its an allergic reaction. I dunno!

Get your yorkie checked for mites. My yorkie had mites and he had the same bumps on the back of the nexk and head. If it is mites they will spread so I would get it checked out as soon as possible.

This sounds worse than it is but scabies do that too, my friends daughter had them and they drove her nuts, it's more common than people think I wonder if it's the same thing as mites?

| Allergies, I believe!! Ruby was really scratchy and had thiose bumps when we got her...I used puppy shampoo for the first bath (although she is one, this is what I already had)...she still scratched, so at PetCo I found "Four Paws Hypo Allergenic medicated shampoo for pets with aloe vera & coal tar used by Veterinarians for the relief of dandruff, dermatitis, itching and dry skin." I have used this three times now (weekly bath) and with each washing see a softer coat and much less scratching. The bumps were gone after the first washing. The vet said coal tar and oatmeal are essantial ingredients for skin problems. The bottle is ugly (sorry, I'm in advertising so I notice these things)..it is white with a picture of a husky... hope it helps...oh, by the way, do you use any kind of carpet sprinkle before you vacuum...?? That could be a problem.....

My dog had a similar problem and we finally figured out it was the carpet fresh I was using. My vet told me he sees this type of reaction a lot when it comes to powders/cleaners and foams we use on the carpets. Hope evrything turns out fine for you. sue

Sarcoptic mange The main question to ask here is is he scratching a bit, if he is, it could be mites or mites with mange. My boys had the little bumps on them, felt kinda scabey (Sp) and I took them to the vet (this was when I had just gotten them) and it was sarcoptic mange which is caused by mites. You mentioned that he is on flea meds, however, flea meds DO NOT PROTECT AGAINST MITES OR MANGE. That is why I have the boys on Revolution because in addition to fleas and ticks, it protects against mites, mange and HEARTWORM all in one dose. I would take him to the vet and get a skin scraping, if it is mange or mites, it will show up on the microscopic exam and then can be treated, once treated put him on the Revolution, one item a month to worry about and it takes care of everything and is cheap, $35 for 3 months.

Well I just got back from the vet for my shepherd and I mentioned his itching which i thought was an allergy. well turns out it was an infection from all the lil sores from the allergy. They had to shave some of his hair and he is on antibiotics and special shampoo as well as some special cream. So dont wait like I did makle sure you see your vet. I feel soooooo bad I didnt catch it sooner . But he feels a lot of relief now. He should be ok in about 4 weeks. I know he is not a yorkie but I just wanted share from one doggie person to another. sue

He is a little itchy but I think its the normal dog itch. He doesn't excessively itch, just a little very rarely. I will take him to the vet.
