| Anyone have info on vet dog food called "ID" by Hills? My one year old Yorkie Rylie was having serious bouts of diarrhea over the past 4 weeks. He weighed 7 lbs 3 oz 2 weeks ago and now weighs 6 lbs and 14 oz... I saw the vet again this weekend and he recommended Flagyl, an antibiotic and this food from Hills called ID... does anyone know more about this type of food? does anyone currently use it or has used it in the past? any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated!!! It's not that I don't trust my vet-- Rylie's not suffering through anymore diarrhea since he started this stuff-- but I wanted to know if anyone had any additional info on their experieince with this stuff... THANKS!!! |

| My vet put Chachi on it when he had diahrea. I had to mix it with cottage cheese to get him to eat it. Hes been on the hills PD brand too when he was a little puppy.

| Hi, I don't know much about that food or medicine. However, I wanted to send you my well wishes! I know how awful it is when our babies are sick. Just keep a good eye on him and I'm sure it will turn out fine |

| Hills Science Diet Id- "ID"- Intestinal Diet. It's a prescription dietary formula and in my opinion should ONLY be fed if neccessary. There are other alternatives, many cheaper to take care of a dog w/ intestinal issues. If you're curious, while I'm NOT a nutritionalist (oh, and most vets aren't either!), I do work w/ a nutritionalist. So, if you're curious about alternatives, please contact me! Science diet is a brand of food "Developed by veterinarian" (and therefore reccommended by vets), but Science Diet was originally developed as a short term food and was never intended for long term use. It was the only commercial grade dry dog food available that provided just enough nutrition to keep a downed dog alive (before surgery and after, until they recovered fully) while not being so rich that it would upset the intestianl tract. So, w/ all the fillers this brand-and there are a lot of new Science Diet " " specialty bags, they're pretty equal, I wouldn't ever feed it to my dog if it could be avoided. You've got options and I'd research them! jm2c |

| My Gracie had been on the food for the past year....she has shown no ill effects from it. She was actually blowing up and unable to digest other brands of food...... she has been better since the switch, no stuffed yorkie or digestion problems. She actually loves it...we add a little water to the wet food and she goes to town

| I have two 9 week old Yorkies...one has been prescribed Hill's EN formula due to gastronic illness...suffering horribly for past two days. Vet gave him two shots over two day and a prescription for Cetrine...doesn't seem to help too much any advice? Does he have to suffer much longer? Any advice is appreciated. Yvonne |

| Maddie was on that about a year ago because of inflammatory bowel disease. She did well on that until she got pretty sick once again so the Vet put her on W/D. She seemed to like that at first, but she got sick of it and simply wouldn't eat it, so I switched her to Nutro Lamb and Rice and she's doing fine on that.
