| Has anyone ever had trouble with Bully Sticks or Flossies? KimMee can eat two a week - she loves them so much. I think that is a lot of stuff in her tummy. She hasn't had any troubles but it seems like a lot? I haven't seen the end results- meaning you can't tell if the bully stick is whole or not, trying not to be too graphic |

| Thanks for bringing this up ... I was wondering too! Toto was a Greenie addict and we got really worried and stopped letting her have them. We started giving her a C.E.T. after dinner and for about two weeks she still cried for her Greenie after she finished the C.E.T.!! I bought Flossie's because she just acted like she needed to chew! The first one I gave her began to look a little stringy like a pig ear so I always trimmed the mushy part off and watched her like a hawk when I let her chew on it. She was chewing on it one night and came running to me making an odd sound ... when I looked there was the piece of Flossie sticking out of her mouth and when I pulled it from her there was a slimy string about three inches long that had gone down her throat!! It scared me spitless!! No more Flossie for her! My friend in AL who owns a pet store gave her a little Bully Stick and it seems to be working well. She only chews on it for about an hour and I put it away. Haven't noticed any "stringing" with it yet but still am not happy with it. I wish I could find something healthy that would last a long time and that she would love as much as she did her Greenies ... any ideas??

| Starsky loves the bully sticks. He eats them completley and we have had no problems. I try to limit to 1 a week. I buy the ones that are like 12 to 14 inches long and saw them into several pieces. It's cheaper to buy 2 bigger ones instead of 4 small ones.

| We give Punkin Bully Sticks as well - the vet said it was okay as long as she softened it before she pulled off the pieces. She doesn't get them to often. We are renovating the house and we give her one when we are working on a project that we don't want her to mess with. So far it works!

| I wondered about these for Buddy - he LOVES the braided bully sticks, and he was obsessed with the Flossie, but after that story about the string, he's not getting it back. One thing I worry about is: are they sterilized? Is it possible to sterilize them? I also do the thing where I give it to him for limited amounts of time and then take it away - but given his recent dietary problems, he doesn't get anything. I'd like to give him more natural bones, but am so confused about what to get him! Most bones are too huge anyway...I bought him one of those bones that are hollow in the middle and he just barks at it! |

Pixie is always bringing hers onto the couch - which is an off white/cream color - I haven't noticed any staining. | |

| I've never been able to get over what bully sticks ARE..lol So no, can't give um to my kiddos or I will never be able to get kisses again! lol I like Piggy Rolls, takes my guys several days to chew one down, and when it gets small I throw it away and give um another one. Granted Pig's ears in a roll are still pretty gross, but beats a bull...yeah...um.. ya know. I also do cow tails on occasion, but only 2 of mine really like them. Have to watch those too, as you've got to grab that little bone at the end before they eat that far...don't know that it would be a problem as it's small but don't want to find out.

| Actually, there are two types of bully sticks....Merrick's Bully Sticks are NOT penis, they are tendons...even though they are called bully sticks. Other brands (not sure which) are made from penis. I actually had a problem with the bully stick (penis one). I gave Baby one of the braided kind. She woke up at 2-4am (can't remember now what time) and started gagging and breathing funny!!! She threw up onto my carpet and it smelled BAD!!!!!! It was the bully stick in the vomit (sorry so graphic) and it smelled like skunk and urine. It was so disgusting, as her vomit never smelled before (and she rarely vomits). Anyway, I took it away from her and she's been fine ever since. That was over 3 months ago. I won't give them to her anymore. Maybe she was allergic, I have no clue, but I'm not messing with them anymore. BUT...Baby is the only Yorkie that I know that has ever had this reaction.

| my two dogs eat a lot of bully sticks. my mini schnauzer will chew one up in a couple of hours. my yorkie takes much longer. i take them away from both of them when the stick gets small enough to potentially choke on. neither of them has ever had any problems. i bought mine online and they were a lot cheaper. we have enough to last a long time. LOL i did buy the Pnutz chew things once. my schnauzer threw it all back up and then when i read the small print it said not give to dogs under six months, so my yorkie can't have them anyways... i've been looking for something else, too, for them to try just for variety, but they certainly don't get bored with their bully sticks! i like to use them when the dogs don't want to settle down or just when i want them to be quiet - it works great! omega |
