| Food Storage Issues Ok, I bought a 16lb bag of Chicken Soup (which has very little if any preservatives added). I have a supposed air-tight container from Petco that will hold all the food. Is this safe? How do I know that the container is really air-tight? Dilemmas dilemmas I am imagining the food will last about two months. I bought such a big bag because Stewie is a travellin' man - he brings food to his gramma's house, his uncles' houses, etc and a 5lb bag just doesn't cut it.

| I usually buy the 20 pound bags of food, and keep it in a container like that, and have never had any problems, I'm sure it will be fine.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | I'm sure it will be okay, Kristy! Hey, does Stewmeister have his own luggage too? You should get something with his name monogrammed on it!

| I keep mine in the supposed air tight container too! When I was at the feed store picking up my dog food one day the guy there told me to keep it in its original bag also so it didn't lose its freshness. He said it would also pick up the taste of whatever type of container it was in. Don't know if that's true or not but I keep mine in the bag now inside the air tight container.

| I have also heard you should keep the food in its bag so it doesn't pick up other smells. |

| Dang, I already poured the food in and threw the bag away. Next time I'll just put the bag in. I don't know why I am so paranoid about this, but I am. I am so meticiulous about everything else like his grooming products, food and toys so I figured I should be even more cautious about his food!

| I buy the larger bags and put them in ziplock freezer bags and put them in the freezer. When opened they smell just like a fresh bag of dog food. My Vet recommend this.
