| Self Grooming your Male Yorkie Hello! I have read thru almost 10 pages of grooming related post topics. I am wanting to groom my little manpup--and did not see where my questions were addressed, so i'm starting a new post. Edgar is not neutered and i have had him groomed professionally before and he always comes home w/a smooth tummy and man parts. what do i use on his testicles and over the sheath? And what about his little nipples? He has some fur on his stomach that is knotting near the rear. I have used scissors before (very carefully) but i don't want to cut him. Can i use something to just buzz over these parts? and i like to keep him pretty trim--what do you recommend as a blade length for the puppy cut and what blade for the schnauzer cut (if anyone uses)? Redvett recommend the Wahl Groomer (beard and moustache) but i'm thinking from her avatars and posts she likes her puppies pretty hair longer than i prefer. thanks for all the anticpated replies! |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | I have a small pair of trimmers and I use the #1 guard on them and go over the areas VERY carefully. I got my battery operated, hand held trimmers from TSC.

| I don't have a male yet, but I recently bought a bikini area trimmer to use on the ears. I wonder if that would work for what you are wanting them for. It has a real small head. It was only $8.00 at Walmart. Also you can watch the groomers at Petsmart or Petco. through a window. |

| Stewie is neutered. I do a sanitary shave over his belly area with Andis clippers without the guard or sometimes w/ a #1 guard. I use scissors on his penis and leave the area where his balls were hairy.

| so i went to walmart and found a $12.99 beard and moustache trimmer. i promised my husband i wouldn't use his clippers (he has hair and beard ones) and i intend to stick to it. besides, i wouldn't want my husband using my electric razor on him. thanks again and wish me luck! i think the grooming will be tomorrow.... |

| alright, so today i decided to try my new trimmer. the attachment SUCKs! the only good i got out of the acutal trimmer was trimming his belly, manparts, and booty. i'm going to take it back and get one made for hair trimming i think. the little attachment couldn't handle his length of hair. i also thought that maybe i could use the shortest length on his body carefully....nope. i quit after doing his tail (which now looks like a thumb on the end of his body) and one short swoop over his backside. sigh! so don't buy the $12 conair beard and moustache trimmer unless you need a small trimmer for "sanitary" cut. thanks to all again for help |

| I use full sized clippers that I got at the beauty supply, and hold him up on his hind legs and just trim the penis area, never getting close to the tests,he was shaved one time at the groomers and went crazzy when it started to grow out on the balls, now I leave them alone and just get the poop area and the penis area, I even use the same clippers on the female, encluding thier ears, have not had a problem with the full size, but maybe because I learned to use them years ago on kids heads |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Self Grooming LOL...I am having a good laugh reading this post. My office mate is looking at me like I have four heads. I bought two pairs of small trimmers from Jefferspets.com. I have a palm size that is supposed to be good near the eyes which was $10 and another small one that is good for the pads on the feet which was about $ 8 that is in a pencil sort of shape. I tried the pencil one on the pads but he gets annoyed and wants to bite it. The palm trimmer did work well to do the rectal area fast. I too need to figure out some sort of system becuase I don't intend on spending $40 every month to go to the groomer. So all other suggestions are welcomed. I am so laughing at the stretching and then just rolling over the other man parts. Thanks for the laugh.
