| Question about false pregnancy My baby Jess wil be a year old on the 27th of this month. She went ito heat for the first time a couple of months ago and everything went well.A couple of days ago I noticed that she had a huge lump on one of her breasts..so of course I panicked and began thinking the worst (she is not fixed). Today we took her to the vets for a check up and the reason her breasts were swollen is because she is producing milk! She is having a full blown false pregnancy. We have been given some meds to dry her milk up and prevent mastitis (Galastop 15k) which she will have to take for a week. She had been vomiting etc too which is a normal sympton in this case...but my question is,will this happen to her after every heat? Or is it just a one off thing? She has been acting very depressed and also motherly towwards one of her toys (we thought she was just keeping it from Lady our other yorkie),and my vet thinks that this could happen more than once.I dont want to fix her,she is a wonderful size for breeding..but if she is going to get this alot I would rather fix her and keep her from getting so sad again What should I do? btw:she has never been in contact with a male. |

| False Pregnancy I thought my Bitsy was having a false pregnancy too so I did a lot of reading on the internet about it. From what I read, some dogs do have to have medicine for it and it can be very stressful for the dog as she really thinks and feels she is pregnant, but no pups Also, I believe I read that Some dogs have no problems with this but the ones that do, it is likely to recur. I just typed in "false pregnancy in dogs" and it pulls up a lot of info!

| My Ahia just went thru a false pregnancy also. And she changed after that. she is more calm now. more loving and wants to be hugged all the time. She didn't just produce milk. she even swelled like there were puppies in there. and then one day it was all gone. almost that fast.

| No, not because of the false pregnancy.. he just says she needs spayed because we should leave the breeding to the experts. when i thought she was pregnant, i got scared, real scare!. then i got excited. then let down. so i don't know maybe after one litter. i want a couple more yorkies and maybe more than that. they are my life now. i go in and out on the idea. I know lots of people dont like the idea of breeding them our selves and i can understand that. but if we want more and we have the ways why not do it our self rather than spend another $800.00 X 3. and then again like i say it scares me. sorry i have started to rattle on.
