| Matting hair nightmare!!! Anyone have suggestions? Daisy our newest member has horrible matts all over her. We brush her daily and use several hair conditioning products, but every day the matts are back. Will our 4 month old grow out of this stage of hair development eventually? or will we be forced to shave her and start over on her hair ? Help!? |

| Macey had horrible hair for the first five or so months, but it grew in beautifully once we had all of the puppy hair trimmed off. I'm sure her hair will start to grow in nicer.

| What shampoo or conditioner do you use? I use Chris Christensen Day to Day shampoo and conditioner and Ice on Ice leave in conditioner. It really helps. When I have matts I spray a little Johnsons no more tangles on the matt to help me to loosen it.

| Cowboy Magic detangler is a great product for getting those mats out -- they just seem to untangle themselves. It can be purchased at feed/farm supply stores or on-line www.cowboymagic.com |

| Conditioners used we use Espree luxury Moisturizer conditioner, with Isle of Dogd No. 60 EPO Conditioning Spray. We got the spray as a sample from the recent AKC dog show held in Chicago. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I did notice my girls at that age having a problem with mats....It's like they go thru a hair change.....I would not dress her for a while and also - Besides what was mentioned....an easy cheap GREAT product for tangles and Mats is Johnsons NO MORE TANGLES for Human Babies - found in the supermarket.....I had a groomer that used it and I went right out and bought some - it really works well. The other thing you could try is Ice on Ice Spray on...it helps prevent tangles on most yorkies hair...I always use it before my girls wear clothes... |

| I agree with others here, Zeus went through this for the first 6 months. Then we gave him a good shave and it all grew back silky, no more mats!

| Tino's hair is a bit wirey at the mo, he's 4 months too! At our pet store, you can get de-tangling spray. Can you get anything like that over there? Something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Conditioning-d...QQcmdZViewItem |

After I saw that you had posted this on another thread, I went out and bought some and it works wonders for Wyatt. I don't have to use it on Mollie. I'm hoping that when Wyatt looses all of his puppy coat that it won't be a problem anymore. His isn't that bad though. Good luck and hopefully you will find one of these products will work wonders for your little one.

| awww what a cutie little face, can't imagine any problems with anything with a face like that LOL, We too use Johnsons no more tangles. I think some of the conditioners leave their hair a little sticky or flat feeling, you know what I mean? Those were the conditioners that made Yogi and Dori's hair matt and stay in tangles, the ones that leave the hair feeling silky and shiny work best and we use TiGi products, (Toni & Guy) bet they don't know their in the dog business too. We'll take Daisy for a few days and see if we can get her straightened out

Oh she looked so bad for about 6 months but i must say it was heaven not to fight with those matts. When she got older her coat changed and became much less of a tangle bug. We Love her silly little self. | |
