How much to Feed an Yorkie? My yorkie is 14 weeks old and I'm not for sure if I'm feeding her enough or too much. I'm giving her approximatly 1/2 cup each day. I don't want to overfeed her.

Well at first I was feeding her Puppy Chow and I have switched her to Nutro. The pet shop recommend the food. This is my first puppy that I have had in a very long time so I don't know much about puppies. Her mother weighed 8 lbs and her dad weighed 7 lbs. I've been feeding her approximatly 1/2 cup. She seemed to eat more in the morning, very little at noon and then wanted to eat around 6:00pm. She has grown so much between visits to the vet. When do they peak on their size? Thanks for your help.

which product by Nutro? Natural Choice, Max or Ultra? how many lbs does your puppy weigh now? according to Nutro's website, the feeding guideline are as follows for a 3-5 lbs puppy: Nutro's Natural Choice puppy food says 2/3-1 cup. Nutro's Max puppy food says 1/2-3/4 cup. Nutro's Ultra puppy food says 1/2-1-1/4 cup. As you can see, it can vary depending on the brand and line of food you have. Check out the feeding guideline on the packaging of the food you purchased. In addition, next time you visit the vet, get the vet to check whether she is overeating or undereating. puppies are suppose to gain a lot of weight quickly earlier in life. the general guideline is that the adult weight is 2x her 12 week weight, but it's not guaranteed. puppies can continue to grown until a year or 18 months, although their growth slows down later on. bunjee was 2.8 lbs at 8 weeks and gained about .2 lbs every week and still growing. last time i weighed him, he was 5.9 lbs at 22 weeks. his parents are 7 and 8 lbs as well. personally i'm not so worried about how much his adult weight will be and how much he's eating so long as it's more healthy food than treats. afterall, he's just a puppy, he needs food to grow and stay healthy.

The last time I had her to the vet he said she was very heathy. I don't feed her tricks hardly at all. She gets a puppy biscuit once in awhile. I'm feeding her Natural Choice / Lamb Meal & Rice Formula. She really likes it. Have you ever try Bunjee on it? Sydney doesn't seem to eat as much of it as she did the Puppy Chow but they did tell me that because it doesn't take as much to fill them up. I guess no fillers like the Puppy Chow had but that was what the breeder was feeding her already. When I decided to get a Yorkie......it was almost impossible to find a larger Yorkie. Everyone breeds for tiny ones. 4 lbs. and under. I really don't care about her size I just don't want to overfeed her. You have got a handsome little yorkie. Thanks for your help.

My Ceeby who is seven months old eats the Nature's Choice puppy food sometimes and he likes it. it is the same ingrediants as the Chicken Soup food. All natural with fruits and vegetables. he only eats a few kibbles. he has other food he eats better.

if sydney is between 3-5lbs right now. 1 cup of natural choice should be about right. i've never had bunjee on natural choice, but he does like the sample package of ultra puppy food i got. and yeah, they eat less of the premium puppy food because it's no fillers and more nutrients. you should see less stool too. it's good that you took her off puppy chow and onto something better. if your vet says sydney is healthy then i wouldn't worry about and just continue to feed per the feeding guideline. you can see the feeding guideline here: http://www.nutroproducts.com/ncdogpuppy.asp#feeding

I just can't believe it. While I was posting the reply earlier, she pee-peed on her paper and blood was in her pee-pee. I had noticed earlier that she seemed to be using her papers alot tonight......and doing very little. Oh, I guess she's got a bladder infection. I've been crate trainning her and I'm wondering now if I've been keeping her in the crate to long at a time. I tried putting her in the bathroom but she starting tearing up my bathroom.......chewing on the woodwork.

maybe you can get a sample of her pee and bring it to the vet for testing to see what's up. how long do you keep sydney in her crate at a time? i got a baby gate and fenced bunjee into the kitchen area and sprayed bitter apple along the bottom of the cabinets to stop him from chewing them. i can't put him in the bathroom either 'cause he'll chew the rug and tp.

I didn't start putting in the the wire crate until last monday 2/27. She's in there 8 hours but she's got plenty of room to pee in there. When I had her in the bathroom she chewed up the newspaper and was eating too much of it. I thought the crate would be much better but it doesn't seem to be if it causing her to have bladder infections. Help me! What do you suggest I do with her doing the day?

bunjee's chewing is exclusive to my fingers and toes of late. he's a climber tho. he'll climb out of his plastic baby gate so i had to get one with bars only when he got bigger. i actually work from home for now, so i've never had to crate him for more than 1 hr at a time. and if i'm out for more than 1hr then i'll confine him to the tiled areas of the condo using babygates, leaving him food, water, toys, and potty pads.

| I free feed Baby. I leave dry and water out all day and I give her a little wet at night. It works out well, that way I don't have to worry if I'm feeding her enough. She never eats all the dry, so I know she's not overfeeding herself.

| Oscar free feeds...always has always will. He eats less than 1/2 cup a day. He is 18 months old and weighs about 6 pounds. He is not skinny and runs and plays all day. He gets one organic dog treat a day. Sometimes he gets apple or a tiny bit of yogurt as a special treat. He is not a big eater and NEVER just stands at his bowl and eats. He runs to get a nibble while he is playing. Just standing over a bowl and eating is a HUGE waste of time, according to Oscar!
