I Love Thor Donating Member | Omega-3 fish oil = fishy dog?!! ewww! Ever since I heard that Omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil) helps with dry itchy skin, THor has been on it. He gets it every single day with dinner and boy are they yummy to him. But sometimes I notice a very strong fishy smell! I think its coming out of his pores. He is a stinky fish monster. And to tell you the truth, I have noticed a little difference in his itching, but obviously it hasn't helped that much since he still has bald little legs (his back half is the more itchy). I have used oatmeal shampoos but I think that the T-Gel works better. Anyone tried T-Gel on their dogs? I use human conditioner on him...And I have found that he is most itchy a day or so after his baths...I rinse him very well I've tried switching his food but it hasn't made any noticeable difference. I am researching how to make homemade food. Are there lotions for dry skin? This is hard to figure out... |

| I use Missing Link. It has the Omega3 but is not fishy like the salmon oil and capsules. I dont know of any lotion but it seems like you could use a lotion made for humans.

| When we first got Riley he had very dry skin so our vet gave us Derm Caps, they look like the vitaminE thingies with the liquid inside. I just poked a hole in one and and squeezed it out over his food...by the time we were done with one small bottle the dry skin was gone and he hasn't had any trouble since. In fact, he has a beautiful, shiny coat now. Maybe you could ask your vet about them...you can buy them at pet supply stores too so you don't have to get them from the vet. |

| I haven't had any fishy smell with Edie. She uses the capsules (Vitacaps from Drs. Smith and Foster). I really have noticed much less itching and better skin color since she has been using these. |

| I cannot tolerate the smell of fish oil so I use Flax seed oil. Has Omega oils and does not stink...I buy it at the grocery store or any drug store. it is for humans so not hard to find. |

| I have the Derm Caps that the vet had recommended for my Smooth fox terrier. I gave her about a two weeks worth of Derm Caps, but hadn't thought of using it for Lipstik, whose coat is somewhat dry. I am thinking of using it for her. Should I poke a hole on the Derm-Cap unto her food or just let her eat it with her food? Thanks for the thought!

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | We use Missing Link as well and it works great for the girls....it has really helped them not itch so much and their coats are so much softer!! I would defintely recommend trying it for a little while and see how you like it!!

| Hannah & Thor! Lipstik is weighing about 4.5 lbs. There is a breeder in NC that has been so kind to me and is going to help me determine if Lipstik is suitable for showing. I am going to see if she will eat the Derm Cap. Where does one buy the Missing Link? Bella, General Patton and Lipstik send puppy kisses to Thor!
