Just because they put a Yorkie on the package does not mean this is a good dog food for them. Many have been known to have loose stools or diareha bouts on it as well as puppies going down with hypoglycemia! I have several friends who have had one or both of these issue's. So when feeding this food take this into consideration!

| Bodhi did just fine on Puppy Royal Canin I just wanted to add our experience with Royal Canin. Bodhi is now 15 months old. We got him at 4 months and started him on Royal Canin's Puppy Formula (33, I believe?). While he experienced the common puppy bile regurgitation, any thing worse was due to other factors. The cheese he was rewarded with in training class and the times he would skip his evening meal were the worse bowel situations for our poor little guy. There is the common thought that Royal Canin occasionally causes "smelly poop". The smell improved for us when we were given the prescription for the Hills Low Fat dietat about 6 months. Bodhi did well on the combination and then tapering off of the RC Puppy food. I read through this site for the adult dog food that is favored by YorkieTalk members. Natural Balance Ultra Premium Dog Food seemed to be the one for us to try. It's gentle on the tummy & I'm pretty sure it lacks staining ingredients. Royal Canin is known for having quality ingredients. Anything you feed your dog, especially puppyies, can cause adverse reactions. Just monitor them the best you can. Don't dismiss anything out of the ordinary because alot more can be going on inside their little systems before we see outside signs. All in good health ~Bodhi'sMom |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | I've got my pups on the RC Small Puppy Bites. Do they have smelly poop? Yes. Is their urine a darker shade? Yes. Are they healthy in every other way? Yes. But I always appreciate hearing all the different opinions on foods. Always looking for something better.

| I was wondering what people thought about this food. My vet recommended it because my dog has bad skin sometimes in summer (due to an occasional flea bite allergy.) I used it for over a year and he hasn't had any problems at all. I actually began mixing it with Iams weight control because he does need to lose a couple pounds. Have any of you mixed Royal Canin with other foods? Just curious. Thanks!

| Mine have not so far had a problem on RC. I have been using it for a while now and everyone loves it. You are right all because it has a yorkie on it doesn't mean much but like any other dog food you buy there is a picture of some dog on it and that means nothing also. I think it's what ever works for you and what your dogs like. |

| Royal Canin Fan! Sorry but.......both my Dogs Love and only eat Royal Canin, I go through 15 lb. bags and I drive quite a distance to get it, only one store carries it within 3 states of my location. Plus it's expensive. My male Artie is the pickiest eater and Abigail has only eaten it since she was a puppy, so in spite of all the facts I can't argue with either one of them! I'm out numbered. But both of them are healthy and extremely active and have full, long silky coats so it must be doing something right? |
