| Bathing Yorkies Between Visits to the Groomers? My groomer said that I was not to bathe or get my puppy wet between his grooms. I take him once a month, and he stays inside mostly, so he does not get very dirty. I just want to make sure that this is true. Has anyone else been told this? |

| My 2 yorkies are both inside and dont ever go out, and they get baths every 10-14 days I dont see why it hurts and I couldnt stand going a month in between baths, my 2 would look very greasy and dirty!

| That sounds really strange to me. I think your groomer worries that you won't come to see her that frequently anymore if you bath him yourself. I give Simba a bath every 10 days but also take him to the groomer every 6 weeks. There is nothing wrong with giving your baby a bath at home. |

| That's what I thought, but she said it would dry out his skin and coat. |

| I think if you take her once a month you most defenitely want to bathe her inbetween visits. Usually yourkies must be bathe every week or two. Every months seems like an extended time to take care of it. |

| My 2 yorkies love being groomed at home and at the groomer. I take them once a month but also bathe them myself in-between. They love the dryer! There is some great shampoo you can get if u are worried about drying out their skin. I use a tea tree oil shampoo which is delightful! I think your groomer is worried u won't return. |

| Sounds odd to me as well. I bathe Jolene at least every week, sometimes more often depending on if she has been outside much to play. If you use a premium shampoo and conditioner you shouldn't have a problem. Jolene has never been dry but does get itchy if I go too long between baths.

| I have never heard of that either! Our Dr. Lucy told us, if Toto gets dirty, bathe her ... whether it's once a week or once a day! Believe me, when she was really young ... sometimes it was once a day! She is 2 1/2 yrs. and goes to the groomer once a month and I bathe her once a week. I have tried lots of different products but always go back to Coat Handlers which is what her breeder gave us when we got her. Her skin isn't itchy and her coat is always shiney. It's a little drier here in Colorado, but everything is!!

| I'm a groomer and yes of course you can bathe your yorkie between visits to your groomer. Yorkies get pretty stinky. I don't think I would wait a month. If your dog gets matted and you bathe him without brushing out the mats you could make it worse. Maybe that's what the groomer was worried about. Go ahead and bathe your dog as often as necessary just don't forget to brush him as well.

| My groomer said not to bath a dog inbetween grooming IF they have dry skin. She suggested a waterless shampoo. I tried it and hated it! So I switched to an oatmeatl shampoo and it's doing the trick. I have Muffin groomed every 4 weeks and I bathe her once a week inbetween groomings. She gets greasy and stinky and I can't stand her looking and smelling bad. She's too damn cute to smell like a dog! |

| Kobe goes to the groomer every 4 weeks. He always has a puppy cut. He does not have a bath between groomings. He always looks and smells great. Even the vet commented on how clean and soft he was and that was right before his 4 week visit. |

| Yes, Charlie gets a bath whenever I feel he needs it. Usually once a week whether I feel he needs it or not. Their hair does get a bit greasy if you go longer than that. (Depending on how old they are) I lay the towel I dried him off with down in the sink and dry him with the dryer as he lays in the sink! He loves it! |

| Mojo has a bath in between grooming visits...sometimes more then once or once weekly or once every days....it all depends on what he has been into, how dirty he is, etc. I think you would be the judge of what your furbaby needs in between grooming visits.
