Hills prescription diet Hi everyone, Our little Britney has had a problem itching for quite some time now no matter what we did. Finally she seems to have stopped when our vet started her on Hills precription Diet Canine Z/D ultra allergen free. She also seems to love the taste. I see alot of posts saying that Hills food is not good. Is there really a problem with this type food? Gloria

I don't think Hills is a BAD food, but with so many organic and natural foods now you have alot of choices. The first thing you need to do is try to decide WHAT she is allergic to and then if you are not happy with the Hills go from there. Do a search on the net, I would try Natural dog foods + allergies and see what comes up.

I feed Edie Hills T/D at the recommendation of my vet. Other YT members have been advised to use this food also, but I don't think they followed their vet's advice . I asked my vet about the nutritional value of Hills foods, and he believes they are at the forefront of pet nutrition. If you have a vet that you trust, and he/she recommends a food, I say go for it. Especially if you are having good results.

I feed T/D as a cookie. Its doing wonders for their teeth so I will stick with it. I don't use it as a diet but it wasn't recommended to me for that by my vet.

My 2 yorkies are on the Hill's prescription canine i/d diet. One has pancreatitis. the other one is a bit chubby. I agree with your vet- they appear to be on the forefront of good nutrition. I also mix Wellness food from Mother Hubbard Company. That food is full of human grade chicken, sweet potatoes and other great veggies. Our chubby one is prone to allergies also and we haven't seen anything out of the ordinary with her. If that food is helping your baby, I would not fool around looking for alternatives. If they are eating and not itching hallelujah!

| My vet reccomended Hill Prescription PD for My dogs when they were little and not eating. He said it was high calorie though and is not meant to stay on for a long time.

There are many variations of this brand. The one my dogs are on is very low in fat so the older one with pancratitis can handle it. You need to know what the formulation is in any given brand. If u don't have a vet u can trust, then it is time to change!
