| Luna to be spayed TOMORROW! I'm so nervous...worried... you know the usual feelings that come along when having to put one of our babies under the knife... I'm posting to know if there is any type of advice any of you suggest...what should I expect...how long is the recovery, etc...? I may have already posted a thread similar to this, but I think I was asking more about price and anesthics... Thanks in advance!

| Usually a couple of days should be enough for recovery time. She should be fine! Just take good care of her after you get her back from the vet and keep a closer eye on her than usual. She may be a bit groggy and tired from the surgery. |

| Hi Melissa...I can't help you much with your questions, but I know the worry part of it! My Maddie is going to be spayed in a few weeks and I'm already so nervous...get a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach every time I think of it! Anyway, I'll be thinking of you and your little one and wishing you the best! One thing I remember reading on this forum is that you have to keep them from jumping on or off of furniture for a while...guess that makes sense, but once they're feeling better, how the heck do you keep them quiet! Best wishes...I'll be waiting for you to post how she is doing! |

| My Hailey also gets spayed tomorrow. I am also very very nervous. I called the vet this morning and she said they specialize in small dogs and they have never lost a dog. I am still very nervous. The vet also said not to let her eat after midnight and limit her water in the morning. i am not sure if they told you that so i thought i would pass it along.

| Thank you all for your replies! Today is the day... Luna was in at 8:15... I'm really nervous right now, I had already settled a bit, but the vet just called be to let me know that they already did the pre-anesthetics and that they were about to start. She also mentioned how Luna was doing. She did a physical, CBC (bloodwork), and fecal exam...everything was normal. She then went on to say that Luna had 2 baby K9 teeth that she needed to get pulled out. I asked if she was going to do that today and she said yes. I kinda was shocked that she didn't really ask me if it was ok...? Made me a bit nervous actually, perhaps I'm just paranoid. All in all though I am very thankful that she called me to let me know how Luna was doing, I really appreciated it and thanked her. Last night I couldn't really sleep well, I was up bright and early and made sure to play with Luna. I feel so bad that she won't be able to play for a while until she is recovered. Like babbie mentioned, I'm on spring break. I scheduled Luna's surgery for this week for that reason. Hopefully, tonight I will be allowed to have her sleep in my room in her crate, that way I can hear her if she is uncomfortable at any moment. Yes, although I'm 20, my mother is still paranoid about a few things, she is very OCD and doesn't really like the dog/human mixing so much... lol so letting Luna sleep in my room is a big NO NO for her... cuban mothers I tell you My thoughts and prayers are with you, Sabrina, and Hailey... please let me know if you have any word from your vet. Let me know if your vet suggests anything in particular, I will do the same. I will keep you all posted. I will also be thinking and praying for Connie and Maddie. Thank you all for your love and support!

| Oh, please let us know how Luna is as soon as you hear anything! Tia's time will be coming up in a couple of months and I imagine I will be as nervous as can be

| Luna just turned 7 months yesterday. I will make sure to post as soon as I get word from the vet. I'm about to go take a nap, I can barely keep my eyes open.

| Thank goodness! That must mean she came through it in flying colors! I'll be checking back to see your post! I saw the pics...what a cutie she is! Poor thing didn't know what she was in for today...that's what bothers me most about taking Maddie in. I've still got a few weeks to think about it. Ugh! Best wishes! |
