| Feeding Question I have a 7 month old yorkie. I have noticed that he has been eating alot lately and he is getting a little chubby. I feed him 4 teaspoons of Eukenuba dry food mixed with 2 teaspoons of Mighty Dog wet food twice a day. Am I feeding him too much? If so how much should I be feeding him? I don't want him to get too fat. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali is 7 months old and weighs almost 4 lbs and I feed her 3 times a dat because of her hx of hypoglcemia. She gets about 5 tablespoons of food total a day. She won't eat more I wish she would. Hopefully someone can give you a better idea of the amount he should be eating.

| Not Sure What To Do! My baby, Spikey, hasn't been eating lately. He's been afriad to go near his food or his bowls. Plus just making the trip to the kitchen is a fright fest for him. I can't seem to find what's making him afraid. He's fine anywhere else but just the short walk to the kitchen has him in a scared mode. I had moved his bowls elsewhere but its not working. I notice he's afraid of walking on the floor but his paws are fine and aren't hurting. It's been 2 days now since he had eaten and I know he's hungry. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Wow he needs to eat. Are you giving him Nutrical. Cali would flip all of her bowls so now I feed her on a paper plate and she sometimes carries it around. maybe he's afraid of the bowl. When Cali wouldn't eat I gave her hamburger and she ate it right up,but you probably need to take him to the vet. Good luck.

I agree with Patti, I have a little one that won't eat out of her bowl either so I use paper plates. Don't always know what spooks them but you need to try feeding in a different room and try the paper plate. I would also be giving Nutrical and it makes them hungry. Also try some boiled chicken with rice, but you do have to get your little one to eat... Good Luck and maybe a vet check is in store.

A little update... He finally ate some of his kibbles. Also found out what he was afraid of. Its my floors. The hardwood and kitchen floors are polished so its a bit slippery for him. I can see him attempt to not slide as he walks to his bowls. He's a bit hesitant to approach the area. I'll see if I can place carpetting or something similiar so he'll get used to walking into the kitchen. I definitely don't want to put the bowls in my bedroom.

If you have a Petco/Petsmart you can look for Nutro foods or Natural Balance. If you PM me your email address I can send you recommendations for wet food from Whole Dog Journal. It is a PDF file which I can't load on YT. They do recommend Evolve and most of the Triumph wet food.

Some get Nature Prairie Raw Some get Merricks wet food Some get Nutro Large Breed chicken & Rice - Low fat and everyone get Innova EVO dry. The only ones I can get a Petsmart are the Nutro Large Breed (this looks like mighty dog just larger pieces that I cut up but much more healthy). The rest I have to get at the Feed & Grain store who carry the more healthy food for dogs or I go online and order... With 10 Yorkies and different needs and wants I have fun at feeding time

I gave him some new food this morning and he ate it all up. He has a very good appetite. He isn't picky at all. I hope he stays like this when he gets older. | |
