| Immune system boost Before I start my question I want to say I know supplements aren't tested and necessarily proven to work. Callie has Cushings and just went to the vet for one of her worst skin infections yet and the Vet thinks it was so bad because Cushings suppresses the immune system so I was wondering if anyone has had any luck or used any supplements to boost their pups immune system?

| Melatonin is often used in the treatment of Cushings. I know it helps with hair loss as I have had experience with a pup with Alopecia X which is also known as Pseudo Cushings. You may have seen his before and after photos before but sharing again just in case not. I don't know for sure, but think maybe if it helps hair regrowth, perhaps it is good for the skin? You might want to ask your vet about it. Index of /cody The first two links are his before and after .. pretty stunning!

| Oh! YIKES I made an error here. Cody didn't have Alopecia X and didn't take Melatonin....I have him confused with Sunny D. There is a thread here on YT about Sunny D. He also had amazing results. BUT Cody is an interesting case as well. He had fungal and bacterial infections with hair loss. He was put on an antibiotic for the bacterial part. For the fungal infection I was advised to bathe him 2 - 3 x /week in Selsun Blue Shampoo and rinse him in 50/50 warm water vinegar rinse. You might want to consider the rinses Taylor. SO sorry for the confusing post. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...hair-loss.html

| Yeah it supposed to stop certain hormones from being released. The one symptom Callie has not had is hair loss. She still has super thick hair.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I really don't know of anything to boost the immune system, unfortunately . The skin infections are most definitely part of Cushings....I dealt with them for 8+ years with Wylie, as you know . Once you get the systemic cortisol decreased (ie, meds titrated to control cortisol), there will be a huge decrease in skin / ear issues. However, you will/may still see breakthrough skin infections nonetheless - for which I always used Simplicef x 28 days. This is the rough part....that stage of titration....bc it takes such time, ugh...

| I love that Convenia injection! I have found that sometimes you need to do two of them .... keep a close eye on her at the two week mark.
