| Puppy Afraid of Food Bowl? Hand Feeding My puppy has been afraid of her food bowl on and off for several weeks now. Shes 14 weeks old. I've tried several new bowls, all of varying sizes and colors. She will eat from them every now and then, but overall we're having to hand feed her or leave the food directly on the floor. The past weekend she has been even cowering away from the bowl. I do not understand, as she eats her full portion when its fed via ground or hand.. Her bowl is in a neutral area, no strange sounds or smells. Helllpppp! |

| I never had this issue with my Yorkie, but I did with my Lab mix, her dog tags would hit the bowl and spook her. I did find this general info online and maybe it will help. https://dogdiscoveries.com/dog-odd-food-bowl-behaviors/

| I had the same problem with mine. She was also a picky eater so that didn't help. This was my constant struggle with her for months. She grew out of it though and now eats from her bowl during her scheduled feedings. I found out that she eats from a plate. Sometimes she would only eat off of the floor. I ended up getting a placemat for her to eat off of. She also didn't want to see too much food. I think it overwhelmed her. I used to spread little bits of her food on her placemat or plate. To get her to eat off of the plate or a shallow bowl (cat bowl/dish), I hand fed her but slowly led her to her bowl. As she tried to eat off of my hand, I dropped the food into her plate/bowl then she would eat from the bowl/plate. Not consistently though. |

| I got mine a plastic tray thing about the size of a sheet of paper and it spreads out the dog food and isn't a bowl and it works nice.
