| Question ... Hi everyone, I have a question, I always thought dogs should only eat once a day, but then when I got Pebbles I read in a magazine that she was to be fed 2 times a day, but she won't eat twice a day, she will only eat once a day, is that bad? I have tried everything to make her eat twice a day and it won't work, she won't do it. And now, I have been reading in a couple places that you are supposed to leave food down all the time or feed them 3 times a day... so my question, which one is the correct one? and is it really bad if I just feed her once a day? ... I don't know, she is pretty healthy and active ... but I just wanna know what you guys think |

| If your fur baby is real small she should not go all day w/out eating. Let her free feed on dry kibble all day and maybe offer her healthy treats a couple times a day. Maybe some plain non-fat yogurt, cottage cheese, shredded carrots, etc. Just small amounts though. It's important she receives enough nutrients. Maybe on your next vet visit you could discuss the best diet plan for her. Alot has to do with her size/weight/eating habits etc. A meal plan for one Yorkie isn't always the best for another Yorkie. Each is an individual with his or her own special needs. Good luck.

| Puppies start out eating numerous times a day as babies, then 5X's then 3x's and at 6 months I reduce to twice (depending on size and dog..) Then at 1 yr I go down to once. I use to free feed, but my Lilly will eat until its all gone so I have to pick it up and put it down, I play games all day with their food!!

| One option that a lot of folks with Yorkies use is to make high quality kibble available to your puppy 24/7. |

| I will definately talk to Pebbles' vet next time we go, but ... the only thing I see with leaving food down is: wouldn't she be more prone to go potty more often? because the fact that she only eats once a day has given her a potty time ... she doesn't go in the house anymore, she wait until I take her out, how do you work around this? |
