| Questions concerning food I have a 9 wk old yorkie poo that doesn't seem to like the Iams Puppy formula that I started feeding him. The owner of the puppy gave me a bag of food which was what he was feeding (Kibbles & Bits) to the mother and pedigree can food for adult dogs. Well, I decided my little fellow was not going to eat that so I changed it. He is less than 2 pounds and he isn't going to eat much but I am worried. He will eat just a few bites and walk away. Should i leave it down at all times for him to graze or pick it up and try again. I am not opposed to trying something else if he seems to enjoy it!! This is all new to me! |

| Well when he gets really hungry he will eat in any of the cases. The important thing is to stick within one of the methods. If you prefer, you can leave the food so it is accessible for him all the time. That way he knows that whenever he is hungry he can go and eat. That is how we proceed with our Zuzi. What other people do is to bring the food every day at the same time, let's say 16.00 o'clock. They keep it for 15 minutes and then hide it until the next day. That way if the puppy misses the meal he will know that next time when he will be able to eat is tomorrow. This method works well for the more capricious babies. Good luck! |

| Normally it’s best to keep them on what the breeder has them on for a little while. With Puppies I am a fan of leaving out the dry food all day for them.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Keep him on whatever he was eating with the breeder for *at least* a couple of weeks! You do not want to make any abrupt changes to a vulnerable, young puppy who has just changed homes and made a huge change. That's the most important thing. You only want him to continue eating what he was successfully eating previously. After a couple of weeks - THEN think about switching. Btw, this puppy should've been kept w/ him Momma until he was 12 weeks old. At this young age - he should be eating at least 4 meals per day. Are you able to do that - and/or leave the kibble out at all times.

| Hello! I have been feeding my dogs Royal Canon and they love it!! You would have to wean them off of what they are currently eating so maybe do 3 parts food he eats now and 1 part new food then change the ratios so they are eating only the new food. My breeder and vet promoted royal cabin and it’s what akc promotes too. They have a yorkie formula specially formulated so that you can give your dog all the nutrients he needs. You could possible even combine the yorkie and poodle formula? |

| I've had to put Cocoa on Nature's Recipe dog food. Everything else seems to make her horribly gassy! She seems to like this food too. The dietitian at Petsmart had me give her Authority Grain Free food and she wouldn't eat it not even with chicken broth. |

| As long as it’s just a snack or treat and not their main diet.
