| Third day of No BM, help please! Hello, I am still not sure if I am posting correctly but I could use some advice. My Bella is almost 10 years old. On Monday night she was off, not wanting to eat much and kind of skiddish. Between midnight- 5:30am she had diarrhea about 9 times. Did not get into anything and does not chew things. Took to vet that morning and requested stool be sent to lab and bloodwork. Stool came back negative and bloodwork was all good including pancreas. The only thing was very slight elevation in one part of WBC. Vet said it was slight and probably due to gastro. Was told to give bland diet and metronidazole. I did start bland diet of boiled chicken and rice but not metro. She is under 4lbs and wanted to see if stool would resolve on own first. Was great the rest of the day Tuesday and Wednesday will about 5:30p she started diahrea again and also vomited a large pile of yellow bile and white foam. Thursday morning at 8am she had her last Diahrea and vomit. Took to vet again and was given Cerenia for nausea and a shot of penicillin and told to give metronidazole. Have been feeding bland diet and metronidazole since. She did switch from boiled rice to boiled pasta as a suggested by vet since she will no longer touch the rice. She has not had anymore vomitting but also hasn't had a BM since her last loose stool Thursday morning. She has an appetite, has energy and is not even attempting to poop. I actually saw her grab a toy and run around the house a few minutes ago which she hasn't done in about a year or so. She isn't drinking water on her own but probably because I am adding a lot to her food and syringing in her mouth to keep her from dehydration. I did call my Vet yesterday morning and the vet tech said she isn't worries as she was probably empty and the bland diet slows things down. She expected her to go either yesterday or today and still nothing. She usually only goes once a day, with maybe twice a day here and there. I am beginning to be worried. Vet said to call tomorrow morning if she still hasn't gone, which I will and they can do an x day for blockage. I am not sure how she would have a blockage as she does not chew or get into anything and is on a leash outside with me. Anyone else have a dog on bland diet and metronidazole and a dog that wouldn't have a BM? It is making me crazy. I have even tried walking her and running around the yard.the only other weird thing is 3 times now since yesterday she has licked all of her back end including tail and back thigh to where it is wet. No clue what that is about. Sorry for the novel, any advice would be appreciated!!! Thanks!! |

| Sometimes it takes awhile for it to build back up to a regular poo. You could try some canned pumpkin. I would not syringe water into her mouth because she could aspirate it and then you have issues like pneumonia. Chicken has more water in it then dry dog food so that could make her not need to drink as much. Yellow bile normally means their tummy is empty.

| Thanks for the reply. I will try some canned pumpkin in a little. Just did some more walking and running and still nothing. Her belly doesn't seem uncomfortable when I gently press on it. It is just so frustrating. She has a little bit of gas as well |
