| One ear standing Hello my newest yorkie is about 6 months old and only has one year standing, both of his ears were down when I got him. How long until the other ear stands it's been about 3 weeks since his one ear has been standing. Look at the picture. Any help would be appreciated.

| Welcome to YT. Keep the hair short on both ears, shaved would be better. Hair adds weight, the less weight on the ears the better chance they have at being erect. If all else fails you can try taping.

| Welcome to YorkieTalk and congratulations on your new addition. I am sorry you are having problems posting pics - here is a link to the "How To Post Pictures" thread - http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...-pictures.html Hope that will help As far as your little one's ear not standing, some yorkies' ears (one or both) just don't stand. Ears up or down, they are all precious. I agree with Joan, keeping the hair on the ears shaved (both inside and out) keeps some weight off and makes it a bit easier and like she said, if that doesn't work you can try taping them. After showing a couple I have a few extra tricks up my sleeve and maybe others will have ideas as well... 1) I find that massaging the ears will sometimes help, not only that, who doesn't just love a good ear rub 2) If you decide to tape, a nifty trick that works well is to cut down a Breathe Right strip so that it fits neatly inside the ear. I have used this method on a younger pup with great success - learned it from one of the leading AKC Yorkie exhibitors . That way you don't wind up with the dilemma of removing tape from hair. |
