| need HELP!!! Patchy dry skin Hi, I am new to yorkie talk and also a new yorkie owner. I purchased a male yorkie two months ago. He had no health issues but I did notice dandruffy skin. I just recently noticed within the past week "Pooky" is starting to have random dry patches on his body. There is no particular shape to the dry skin patches so I didn't think it was a worm issue. From what I can tell Pooky has dry skin on his chest and lower area random spots. He started getting reddish dry skin on his hind legs where there is no hair growth and the reddinsh dry skin seems to be getting larger. I have been feeding him "Nurto Ultra' dog food for the past 2 months and give him dried chicken jerky about 4 or 5 a week. So there has been no change to his diet. When I noticed the increasing dry skin I did start giving him flax seed oil, based on a post I read. Can someone help with some suggestions? I wanted to try some home remedies before I decide to take him to the vet. He is still very energetic and playfull. I have only seen him scratch at a dry patch on his neck about 2 to 3 times a day. Maybe a change in his shampoo might help, any shampoo recommendations? I use a brand call"Just add water" that I purchased at Target. it's suppose to be a shampoo and conditioner in one. Read a couple articles about a brand called Eqyss and another brand I have forgotten the name on but they carry it at a the local feed store. Any thoughts on this product? |

| Does he lick these areas alot. My dog has allergies and he doesnt scratch alot he licks. It sounds like allergies. Nutro is a pretty good food but you dont know if maybe he is allergic to chicken or wheat or what. You could try another food and then I would get a shampoo with oatmeal in it. If that does not help then I would go to the vet. My dog has allergies and I tried everything I could try but he still had to be treated by the vet. I also put Missing link on my dogs food its a vitamin suppliment that is good for the coat and skin. I get it at petsmart. Good luck
